Yes, the new year has been in effect for an entire three days, but honestly we're only just starting to get over the holiday madness. For instance, we still haven't played Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed, a fact made readily apparent in our best of 2007 lists. We're pretty sure that lots of other gamers out there have a lot of catching up to do, so we figured this week would probably be a good time to recommend doing just that. Frankly, we still have to play Overlord for crying out loud. With this theme of catching up on missed games we ask: what will you be playing this weekend?

Assassin's Creed (Which I find really entertaining, even after being five hours in), finishing the last two advanced levels in Portal, and then getting through HL 2 so I can start to tackle ep 1 and 2. I'm at Nova Prospekt now- the game is a hell of a lot easier to play the second time through.

There are a ton of places in that board to get turned around in.
My epiphany in ravenholm was when I discovered- at the scene where you're waiting for the preacher to wheel the basket over to you- that I could tell which ladder those fast crab heads were walking up just by looking for where the gutters shook back and forth. I swear that part took me over an hour to get past on my first run through. Pretty stupid actually, since it's so obvious.

I just popped in Stranglehold and played that for an hour but couldn't really get into it...back to GameFly it goes.
I'll prolly hit up some COD4 MP (although I'm still really low level).
Also maybe some Just Cause as I'm going way back and doing a play-thru on that.
And my buddy just got Fight Night R3 so I might work him in that or some Madden.

Got Mass Effect for Christmas and am looking forward to playing it. I need to finish Halo 3 on Legendary and get back to HL2. So many games, so little time.

i just have two achievements left in COD4 (mile high club on vet and your show sucks). so i may try and finish those off. and of course the multiplayer. i'm debating whether to keep going through prestige or just not bother with it anymore. i'm at 43 on my first prestige level, so we'll see.
but i want to go back to HL2 campaign as well as AC, which i still need to finish. so plenty of gaming goodness to start off the new year with.

I've got a lot on my plate right now. For 360 I have The Darkness, Orange Box, and CoD4 right now...let alone all of the Wii games and DS games that I haven't touched in months. I'm loving Orange Box though.

My girlfriend hasn't went back to college yet so I guess I'll be playing nothing. Perhaps a few games of Carcassonne with her but little else.
I look forward to getting back to Need for Speed: Prostreet. I need to wrap up AC still...and well...a lot of other titles.
Have a great weekend everyone and be safe.

Ha ha... my girlfriend will not stop asking to play Carcassonne. I tried so long to get her to pick a game up and now I feel cursed by the success.

Was working my way through Mass Effect, then picked up Assassins Creed, but put that down to begin playing with Halo 3's forge. I still have Orange Box sitting on the shelf glaring at me for not having make much progress there either.... so this week I might play Phantom Hourglass... just too many great games.

I finally beat Mass Effect the other day. there is a slim chance I might continue a seond play through with my same Shepard. Is it more fun to start totally fresh or to use your leveled up dude? I think I beat it at level 36.
I finally beat condemned the other day. I know, a little late.. That game is pretty cool though, getting pumped for the sequel..
I just picked up SKATE. that game is the shit, I cant stop playing it. Id like to try and get some more achievements in that this weekend. DAMN DEATH RACES!!!
I will definitely be playing some COD4 MP.. Search and Destroy & Headquarters FTW!!! add me on live if you wanna play some cod 4
big filth
and If I can find the time, (who am I kidding, what else do I have to do) maybe I will try to mess with some of thoseadvanced levels in PORTAL.. (bring the tylenol)
have fun!

I’ll be mostly plaing AC.
I just picked up Assassin’s Creed after Xmas (thank you Best Buy Sale!) and was not sure what to expect because of the mixed bag reviews. What convinced me was Penny Arcade’s review of the game.
I wasn’t disappointed.
It’s all about your frame of mind. I have a buddy who was so-so about the game and blew right through it to beat it.
I took a more leisurely approach. And I’m LOVING IT!
This is not a run and gun action game but more of a “stop and smell the roses” exploration/stealth/action game. In fact I’d say that it’s 50% exploration, 30% stealth and 20% action.
It’s beautiful to look at and watch and fun to play IF you take your time and really explore the nooks and crannies of the story and the world.
I’m about 8 – 10 hours into it and I know that I’m still barely through the first 10% of the game…and I don’t mind so that’s what I’ll be playing this weekend. Don’t get me wrong. The game isn’t perfect. There some flaws in the controls and the graphics get buggy sometimes and there IS some repetition in it but honestly the more I play this game the bigger the grin gets on my face.
But that’s just me. I’m a slower paced gamer. I really enjoyed Halo 3 campaign and some multiplayer but the fast pace speed just isn’t me so I can see why people are impatient with this game.
Other than AC I’ll be puttin’ the smackdown on some Carcarsonne and I re-purchased Crackdown to finish the campaign.
