Sorry if we come across a little bothered in this post, but the fact of the matter is that we are very bothered. The source of our bothered nature is this week's latest Marketplace DLC offerings. And no, it's not the new 300 Microsoft point Virtua Fighter 5 Item Pack 1 which allows for more character customization. The price is a bit steep and evil in its own right, but we have bigger fish to fry.The source of our bothered nature is EA's new DLC that they just release for Need for Speed: ProStreet. Listen to this. Not only did EA release three car bundles (Tuner, Sport and Muscle) to the Marketplace on ProStreet's launch day for 400 Microsoft points each, but they're also selling a $10 cheat code. That's correct, for 800 Microsoft points you can get the Ultimate Performance Bundle which will unlock every performance upgrade in ProStreet. Keyword there is "unlock", because purchasing the Ultimate Performance Bundle pretty much boils down to purchasing a cheat code. When will they learn?

if I'm not mistaken, the cars are also unlockable through gameplay.

Everything they released is available for you to unlock on your own. They are just trying to make money off of impatient people. Crappy, yes, but they aren't offering any new content that isn't in the retail game.

my advice to everyone is to stay away from this and get Most Wanted.
but if i win the contest for Pro Street, that wouldn't be too bad b/c I'm not paying for it.

Who cares? Just don't play online until you've beaten the game.

It seems they've already learned.
...how to flip gamers over and hit their weak spot for massive profit.

GH3 is an activision game...
Anyway, EA can mess with the idiots who download this stuff all they want. As long as they let Harmonix do their thing with Rock Band, I'll survive.

They will learn when people stop buying. It's the same deal as with the Guitar Hero DLC. All your cries of price gouging are drowned out by the sound of money falling from the sky. They can't read your angry posts, because of the dollar signs in their eyes.
If people buy it, they'll sell it. I'm waiting for what they guys from Penny Arcade called the "Challenge Pack", where you'll be able to buy the ability to remove all of the upgrades you've unlocked. I bet it'll sell.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a great business idea? You have choices here: pay or play. Why does this get people so riled up? It's still just a game.

Um, 1-2 weeks after people stop buying $10 cheat codes from them? Consumers are as much to blame for EA's evils as EA themselves... After all, if there wasn't a market for it, do you think EA would be involved at all?

i agree with 11.it says in the download that it can be unlocked by playing.they are not trying to cheat anyone.there is no funny wording.if you have the money and not the time this is perfect.it costs nothing to do and makes money on every download....brilliant.

they did the exact same thing for Most Wanted. Same day they released the game you could buy all the upgrades for $10. Why all the outrage now?
