I remember the light/dark thing really biting me in the demo -- those little onion guys you could kill in one round turn into hulking elephant-sized ass-kickers if you accidentally knock them into a shadow.
Does the trailer really have anything that we didn't learn already from playing the demo? I'm pretty psyched about this game, but it's going to have to go on my "buy later" list... maybe after the first price break, or when all the 12-year-olds' ADD kicks in and they return it in droves, driving down the Used game price ;-)

I actually didn't know there was a demo out, but that trailer looks like exactly why I don't like Japanese RPGs. Sometimes the stories are okay, I just wish there was a way to make the gameplay more engaging to a western audience.

Well, it really depends on what you didn't like about the gameplay you saw there. The turn based nature? I mean, there's plenty of Japanese RPGs that don't utilize that.

Seriously, this game looks solid but reviews are kinda iffy for it. What's a good RPG without an intresting story?
This and Blue Dragon are a little dissapointing as far as JRPGs go (dont get me started on Enchanted Arms!)
Hopefully Last Remenant can pick things up a little.

i think it looks alright. I played TOS on gamecube and liked that so this looks like it could be fun. I just dont like the character design very much. Seems like the characters are wearing ugly poofy clothes and just dont look good.
I would pick this up for sure but with halo 3 a few days later, there is no point. Ill most likely end up picking the game up around janurary 2009 or something in a bargin bin.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the demo and want to play more, but I just don't see me buying this Day 1. I'll get it for sure sometime in the future, maybe if I find a good deal on it, or if the used price isn't too bad.

usually you just have to play it for yourself no matter what the reveiws are when it comes to RPGS. its kind of like rating FF games some say FF7 was the best ever while other say it was where the series went bad. but i like the art style and but did that guy in the top hat stick his hand up the monsters ass CRITICAL DAMAGE! ill i know about the story so far is there is a girl falling off a cliff some where but then again it could be metaphorical imagery.
