2. I wish the USA could get this that would be awesome.

I have a question about these kinds of promotions and such. If someone buys through this, does this money count towards the opening day record breaking money this game will make, or does halo 3 get jipped?

I hope it goes towards opening day sales or that is just stupid.

3. Awesome, thanks for the info. Ordered.

4. erivera3...usually...products are marked up in stores, and any discount that the store offers cuts into THEIR profits, not bungie's.

example: I just bought a black accessory pack from futureshop for $76.50 (through my buddy who's an employee there) and it was basically $61 + 10% (mark-up for their employees) + 14% (tax)...while the NORMAL price they have it listed at is $90 + 14% tax...which means i saved $26.10 on the retail price...which is futureshop's "loss" even though they made a $6.10 anyways.

gotta love having connections. booya.

i'll be going to futureshop for all my other games cuz i know i can get them cheaper this way. for everything BUT Halo 3. I want the midnight release. so me n my buddy can play thru it on split screen co-op through-out the night.

5. (the black accessory pack includes a black controller, a black battery pack, and the black charging cord. seen here: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10087741&catid=#)

6. How much is this going for again?

Yeah, but I mean if it says they won't get the game till a few days after release, does the money still count towards as if you bought it on release? You know, those promotions, or buying in on Amazon.com or something, does that money still go towards the release date earning?

8. To #8 -

The money that you spend on Halo 3 won't be going to Bungie at all, it'll be going to the retailer that sold it to you. Bungie gets money from the retailers when they buy copies (in bulk) to sell in their stores.

Even if you buy it three days after it's released, chances are it was part of the first batch sent to the retailer - the batch that will be tallied for first week earnings.

Once the first batch is sold out, or close to selling out, the retailers will order in even more copies, and another big truck of money gets delivered to Bungie.

If you want to guarantee that Bungie gets your money from a release date sale, pre-order the game. That way the copy will have been purchased by your retailer in advance and ready for you on the release date.

9. 49 CAD = roughly 1.05 USD

10. I guess that joke is still funny down there even though our dollar will be worth more than yours by the end of the year? :)

11. It's about four years too late to be making exchange-rate jokes at Canada's expense. oanda.com can show you the details.

Besides, if you have Canadian connections, a cheaper Canadian dollar is a good thing ... unless you'd rather spend more money on Halo 3 ...

12. Very funny colin. Although I bet you won't find it as funny to realize in fact that the Canadian dollar is 95 cents to the American dollar. So:

49 CAD = roughly 47.0399 USD

13. The forum at cheapassgamer.com recommends liongames.com which has it for $40 U.S. I'd do it but I'll pick Halo 3 up at midnight and the $25 I'd save isn't worth it to wait.

14. "49 CAD = roughly 47.0399 USD"

and thats still lower than 60USD, which is what they are charging in the US.

Not to meantion that canadian currency is at a 5 year low and it's constantly been fluxuating. At the beggining of the year it was at 1.15CAD to 1USD, then went up to almost 1.20, and is now down to 1.05.
As much as the canadian currency fluxautes, i doubt that it will stay stable at such a low rate for very long... unless the world has a sudden shortage of hockey pucks, molson ice, or maple syrup.
Then Cananda, and only then, you will finally have you moment in the world spotlight.
Maybe while thats happening, the US can quickly switch presidents in the shadows.

15. It's called natural resources, man. We got 'em, you guys are running out, and the rest of the world wants 'em.

16. sorry, i didn't know canadians were so protective of their loonies. it's a good thing i didn't mention socialized medicine or tax rates.

oops.

no, all in good humor my friends. i love canada. i go as often as i can. every place i've been in canada was cool. i once taught a frenchman, an aussie, and a south african how to roll a blunt in banff. lake louise is beautiful all year round, and whistler/blackcomb is amazing (except the mid-mountain fog).

17. Liongames.com is where it's at. I have heard some good reviews about the site so I gave them a shot with the Halo 3 preorder - $45 shipped.
