Bungie Update hints at vehicular gametype

In the most really Bungie Weekly update, Frankie started off to talk about a vehicle based gametype in Halo 3. Apparently it had everyone suited up with Rockets, a bunch of vehicles, and the "greatest Halo experience ever experienced." Frankie went on to say that Halo 1 fans would really have a bunch of fun with it. To us, this means one of two things: They're either bringing back Rally and Racing gametypes, or they're making an official version of "Warthog Jousting". Rockets, infinite Ammo, Indestructible vehicles, and increased health would definitely do the trick, based on the options seen in the Beta's custom matches. The update also touches on them knuckling down for the retail build, and polishing and tweaking the game. A good read, and that gametype sounds like it could make Randy Glass proud.

2. It's not like I'm ever going to play halo 3, I have officially stopped being a fanboy since my 360 died and Microsoft wasn't interested in replacing my un-warrantied xbox.

3. Listen, is that comment in reply to this story? Or are you simply a lonely PS3 fanboy who is sitting around with his parents on a Saturday night, trying to ignite a flamewar?

GROW UP.

4. nope, I was a 360 fanboy, now I'm nothing without my 360. All I have now is a worthless twelve month subscription to xbox live.

5. Me and some friends played a version of rally around Valhalla in Mongooses, two people to a Mongoose, with the guy on the back having both rockets and laser.

Then after each lap you'd have to change over and the driver would be on the back and the 'gunner' would drive. The vehicles were indestructible, everyone had tons and tons of shield and wouldn't die.

Needless to say, it was hysterical, but obviously it was only fair if all the players honoured the rules. You could cheat and take a shortcut if you wanted or not change over after each lap, because it obviously wasn't implemented by the gametype...but maybe it could be with whatever Bungie conjures up.

It was one of the best custom gametypes I ever played on the Halo 3 Beta, and we did some pretty insane stuff.

6. the race gametype is already in halo 3, just not as its own mode. For modes like jaugernaught and oddball, you can set it so players score by going from location to location. Set it up so both players and jaugernaught score while racing, rockets only and jump on a vehicle and theres your race mode.

7. Im still hoping for the new and improved Race mode with user created checkpoints.... :)

8. Bungie staff has repeatedly shown that they have no idea what people will like when it comes to gametypes. Every time they hype up a gametype like this, their forums are littered with complaints. For instance: Flag Wars. Are you fucking kidding me? Flag Wars? Seriously.

Leaves me with little hope.

9. Exactly. That's also explain why every other game in the beta was "shotty snipers".

Lame!

10. I liked in Halo 1 how all the vehicles were lighter and more 'bouncy'. It certainly made for fun warthog wars, where the object of the game was to knock the other guy out of the warthog and run them over.
