1. Not sure why they would be in the Ultimate set because they are included in the Ultimate set. But cool for those who don't want to spring the extra dough for the bigger set.

2. This is a rental for me. Netflix FTW!

3. @ 2

Netflix won't ship you the code in the box though.

If the version on the XBLM is in HD I'll download it, doubt it though since the version of it in the Ultimate Trilogy is not in HD.

4. Oh I know. Just saying in general about the movies.

5. I love the matrix. The things is though I already have all three films and The Animatrix on SD (Standard Definition.)I have to buy The Complete Collection in SD though, all my discs are scratched. Also, I don't have an HD DVD player. Or an HD TV. Or pants... oh that's right. I just bought some. Pants. I just bought some pants.

6. This just saved me a some money, I was going to buy the ultimate collection just for the Animatirx in HD, I don't care that much about the rest of the extras in HD because I already have the Ultimate Matrix Collection in SD.

7. Why is the Blu-ray version being released after the HD-DVD version? They haven't even set a release date at this point. Seems odd that they would willingly alienate supporters of the current HD format leader.

I think the 360 is the best console of the current generation by far but my love for the 360 does not tie me to HD-DVD in any way. Blu-ray is winning the format war at the moment, and I'd be willing to bet money on Blu-ray maintaining its lead until HD-DVD is all but forgotten. If you separate the 360 from HD-DVD and look at the facts I'm sure you'll agree with me.

Supposedly "The Animatrix" isn't even in HD. Only the three main films appear to be, leaving The Animatrix and all of the special features rocking it out in SD.

With all the stuff crammed on each individual disc anyways... I wonder how great the HD is for the films themselves. They couldn't have possibly given us Near-Master quality with all the extras on the disc. I'll pass on the set. Give me the Extended The Lord of the Rings Trilogies, and fill the discs with nothing but Film... and I'll buy into your HD DVD or BluRay Disc, otherwise I'll wait for the true next-generation of A/V Multimedia Disc Technology: HoloDiscs.

9. Soo.. what are the odds they release the trilogy in HD on The XBLM??

10. @RoboJoel

I currently have 8 movies on Blu-ray and only one of them has the special features on a separate disc (the movie is in MPEG-2 for some stupid reason, so it's taking up way more space than an equivalent quality MPEG-4 version). With 50GB on a dual layer disc and really nice codecs available they have no trouble fitting a really good looking 1080P film with HD extras on a single disc.

11. Check out the review for the films on hi def digest. The quality according to them is one of the best so far to come out on an HD format.

12. why do you need the animatrix when its free to watch on youtube...?

The Matrix is great, but I honestly can't even remember what happened in the second and third movies... I remember there was some mean French guy who was cheating on that Italian super-model and that the "real world" humans had large mechanical machine gun suits.

just buy the first movie in HD I say.

The reason they aren't releasing it on Blu Ray is because they can't get their act together with the interactive features. HD DVD has the Picture in Picture mode, and from what I've heard has way better extra features then Blu Ray. That's why Warner Brothers isn't releasing it on Blu Ray just yet.
