Wow. We never thought we'd say this, but Xbox Live Arcade is on a roll. Two weeks ago, we got Alien Hominid, last week was Worms, and TMNT dropped this week. That's three decent titles in a row. How in heaven could Microsoft keep this up? The answer is Symphony of the Night. Marked by many as the official game to whine about now that Worms is out, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night will arrive next Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade. Most Castlevania fans agree that SOTN is the best in the series, so seeing it on Live Arcade is a real treat. The game provides many, many hours of action RPG gameplay and features either classic or "modernized" graphics and sound. Symphony of the Night will be available next Wednesday for 800 points.
Is Xbox Live Arcade finally coming into its own? Dare we dream?

YAY YAY YAAAY! I hope there's some Themes and a Gamerpic or two! I've been waiting since August for this! Anything else is just XBLA fluff:)
I also JUST sent out my 360 for repair! What're the odds, right?
Yaaaaaaay!!!!

I'm psyched...this game was my #1 time-consumer on the Playstation, and now it will be the #1 time-consuming nostalgia engine on Arcade! Still, one has to laugh at the irony in the fact that so many of us are salivating for a past-gen title on a next-gen system. It is truly a testament to Castlevania's seemingly timeless fun-factor.

I'm glad to see it come out finally, but I'm worried that MS is burning through these great games too fast... If they release Double Dragon on the 28th, March would have been a bad ass month for XBLA.

Please tell me it's not going to look like the image above. This was originally not an arcade game, and should be fullscreen without bezel art. Hopefully there's a toggle.

It doesn't matter if it was an arcade game or not. It's not going to be fullscreen by default on a widescreen HD setup because that was not its original resolution. This is something that's going to happen with any game that wasn't built with widescreen HD resolutions in mind.
I imagine if you run it in 480p/480i it will be more or less fullscreen.

this is probably gonna be one of the few recent xbla titles that I'm not getting.
SOTN was such a rediculously over-rated title.
Super Metroid did this so much better.

According to your post a couple weeks back Settlers should be the next game out of the gate next week. **Crossing Fingers**

aragorn,
I understand liking Super Metroid more, but they really are different games. They both employ similar designs (in fact I think SOTN uses the Super Metroid engine), but they play very differently.

hmmm what was that coming out in europe next week again, someone remind me?
I doubt the run of awesome arcade titles and the release of a certain console is a coincidence,so i'd not expect this good run to last.. but hey, im only complaining because i dont have any acess to live from my current dwellings :(

Richard: not sure I really agree with you on that one, but of course, any comment on the nuances is doomed to be reduced to apples and oranges. But, fair enough. thanks for tolerating my critisism.

So after this there's really nothing to look forward to until Castle Crashers in 2008... I mean I'm sure there'll be surprises like Doom and Mortal Kombat (One of which I hope will be that XBLA Version of Sonic 1 that was announced but never quite materialized).

This will be fun, but I'm really looking forward to Settlers. Live Arcade is the perfect forum for board and strategy games, and I'm surprised we haven't seen Risk, Stratego, etc. on there. Double Dragon should be fun, but I'm much more excited about original content.
