The latest issue of Game Informer brought forth information on the latest Star Wars game. Titled Star Wars: Force Unleashed, it is set to help bridge the 19 year gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. You get to play as Darth Vader's apprentice, as he wants to overthrow the Emperor and rule the galaxy with you at his side. At the same time, there is a galaxy wide hunt to exterminate the remaining Jedi from existence. Force Unleashed also boasts LucasArts' Eurphoria engine, capable of real-time environmental damage. For instance, when using Force powers on steel, it will dent appropriately. Another example includes a tree either splintering or breaking in two, dependent on the type of impact. You may be concerned that given the title is taking place between the two trilogies that your actions aren't going to have a huge impact, as the events are set in stone. That's not the case, as LucasArts is saying that there will be multiple endings that can really shake up the Star Wars Universe. At least you have a shot of taking down Palpatine before the first Death Star is fully operational. Does this pique your interest, or does any (finished) Star Wars game without the word "Knights" and "Republic" in the title get ignored?

I'm interested.
It would be nice if the words "Knights" or "Republic" were in the title though.

I absolutely can't wait. There was a tech demo for this game here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fBDvawa2HLA
It looks like its going to be a lot of fun. I just hope they don't stick to Vader being so emo like in Episode III. Let's see some classic James Earl Jones action, damnit.

Pretty much. If it's not KOTOR III, it's probably going to suck. Not all SW games are godawfully bad, but far more of them are then there are those actually worth playing.

I assume this will follow more in the lines of Dark Forces. That series was quite good as well, and if they integrate some of the more involved story-telling that Bioware introduced in KOTOR, then we could definitely be in for a treat.
I think the good/suck ratio has drastically improved for Star Wars games in the last few years. In fact, if you write out most of the games based on the prequel trilogy, I think you'd find that the good far outweighs the bad over the franchise's history.
The trick is getting teams to do interesting things in the expanded universe as much as possible, and staying the hell away from the films.

Violating continuity much?
Considering Vader never became a real Sith Lord himself, I don't see why he'd have apprentices. Maybe he'd team up with an Emperor's disciple.
If the developer/Geo Lucas/Whomever is willing to ignore such a major chunk of the Star Wars storyline, I don't have high hopes for the game. Before you can turn out a decent movie related product, you've gotta respect the movie license.

I'm cautiously optimistic at the moment, they're using the same engine as in the new Indy game, which by all accounts looks impressive. The setting being between the two trilogies should give the story enough artistic licence, plenty of jedi to wipe out on a vast range of planets etc.
Once Mass Effect is out though, is anyone really gonna care about SW?

I'm excited. I didn't care too much for Knights of the old Republic though. Then again...I played it much after getting the 360 into my routine. It's hard to go back; the only game that holds up is Halo 2 really...
I can't help but hope there will be a good Star Wars game for the Wii as well.

I would rather see a 24 or 32 (or more) player online Battlefront game. With all the weapons and vehicles in the Star Wars universe, it would be AWSOME!!!

Kid Pyrrhic, Darth Vader is called Lord Vader through-out episodes 4-6.
Being that he is a Lord, and a Sith... I would say it is safe to assume that he is a Sith Lord.
Rob, I totally agree with you... Battlefront 3 on the X360 would rock!

Actually, Vader cannot be a true Sith Lord. He is too much cyborg to actually be a full Sith Lord. He cannot use Force Lightning, and various other powers that are integral to the title. Read Legacy of the Force: Betrayal for the full story.

Fellow dudes...That game-play video on youtube was amazing. With Lego selling over a million copies in the first week and with production costs soooo high I think that they have no choice but to produce a quality game. "Force" is a perfect word to include with anything that has to do with Star Wars.
