Future Shop wants Canadians to get 360s; Free gift card if out of stock

Future Shop, the Canadian equivalent to Best Buy (who actually purchased the franchise in 2001), promoted the Xbox 360 as a worthy next gen console in a recent "Ask the Expert" column. The article brings up various points about how the 360 stacks up to the competition, mentioning price, resolution and available titles. It's good that they're giving an honest look at the hardware. They finished up with the following:

"Even better, Future Shop guarantees that the Xbox 360 will always be in stock - or you'll receive a $30 Future Shop Gift Card - so you can join in the future of gaming anytime. "

So you fellow Canuck fanboys keep your eyes peeled next time you're at Future Shop, because you could snag a gift card that could go towards your next game.

1. Um hasn't this been on for a month or so already.

2. this has been on since september, and its impossible for you to get that gift card for 2 reasons.

1. No futureshop ever runs out of stock on 360. They all stock 150+ in store at a time. Even on boxing day, when the price droped $100 for the one day only, they still only sold around 120ish each of their stockpile. Theres no way they will ever be sold out of the 360

2. If you read the fine print, they say "limited to 10 gift cards per store per day" So that means if for some chance 10 delivery trucks all fall into a ditch and they do run out of 360s, by the time you get to the store, 10 people will have already asked and recieved their gift cards, regardless if they wanted to buy a 360 or not.

3. Yeah, this isn't ... news. It's been like this since the PS3 launched.

4. Wow Futureshop had lots of 360's on boxing day? when i was working at Best buy (which is strangley right beside futureshop) on boxing day, the $100 was amazing and it sold out fast (we had like 100 or something).

Anyways, yea. this isn't new. but its limited to like 10 per day =D.

5. After reading your comments about how it is hard getting a 30$ gift card, I went over to Future Shop in my neighbourhood (because I knew they were out of stock) to go get the gift card. It is true that they give you a hard time because they are saying that in the newsletter (on the website) it only says that they give you a gift card if they are out of stock of the XBOX 360, they do not specify if it's the core or the premium. Therefore if they are out of stock of premiums, they tell you that they do not have to give you the gift card because they still have some core on hand, and vice-versa if they are out of stock of core but have premiums on hand. Finally, I yelled a little at the manager and they did end up giving me the 30$ gift card
