RedOctane released some pictures of both the box art and bundle for their upcoming 360 game Guitar Hero II. Not only does the white guitar look sexy, but the promise of additional songs and downloadable content ... we love you RedOctane. Even with the release of these pictures there is still no firm release date set. We're ready for the release though, already bought the purple hair dye, tight leather pants, and Super-X hold hair gel ... let's rock!

I'm immeasurably psyched for this, having played GH 1 and 2 on PS2 to death for the last ~14 months. I just hope they don't price it $99.99 or something just because it's the 360 version.

i simply couldn't wait for this anymore. I played it at a friends house, and I borrowed another friend's PS@ and spent $150 on two wireless guitars and Guitar Hero II. I'll probably sell all that on eBay though once the 360 version comes out. Shame it didn't come out earlier though. Would be nice if downloadable content added some songs that are heavily requested. The 360's marketplace really adds a lot of longevity.

Yea.. I'd prefer wireless myself.. but It's not like a wired controller is anything new.

Yeah, same thing happened to me. I traded my GC for a PS2 to my friend on Xmas day, and I literally got Guitar Hero II yesterday and I'm loving it.
It only makes sense they release these pics today, of all days. It could have been the release date and price, just to taunt me.
I'll probably sell it on Ebay as well just to get the 360 version, for achievements and downloadable songs - could care less about the HD.

I'm sure RedOctane will come out with a wireless controller as well, perhaps for an extra $20 or so. If they don't they're just asking for third parties to come in and take profit that could be theirs. Anyway, like Binford04 says, the graphics aren't really the reason to get this game, though I wouldn't mind an improvement. I think it would be badass to have a 90% or better on Freebird Expert achievement or something. It would actually be an achievement I'd be proud of (otherwise known as an ACHIEVEMENT). Who cares if you find 2/3 of the COG tags in GoW or get 15 rebounds with three different players. 90% or more on Freebird? Now that is a f---ing achievement. Check out this GH vid:

I wish they'd snap to it. I don't want to buy this for the PS2, although I've been tempted. It's hard to spend more than $20 on any last gen game that doesn't have any perks (read: achievements, online play, online updates).

The problem with the wireless guitar is that Microsoft isn't allowing Red Octane to produce one.
“[Microsoft] aren’t allowing 3rd party manufacturers to make anything at the moment….so until they allow us to do so, we aren’t able to.”
Thus, I am sure Red Octane is really itching to please the crowds, yet Microsoft has blocked them from doing so due to some arrogant technology rights issues that MS has. I really hope they reconsider this, or that they choose to make a 1st party wireless guitar (and after using some of MS' 1st party accessories i.e. the wireless steering wheel, that would be pretty awesome of them if they did produce one).

Wooo! Bring it on!!
I'm still dying to hear a concrete release date for this! Can't wait!
Yeah it's a shame MS won't allow 3rd party wireless peripherals, it's not like they already have their own guitar controller for the RedOctane one to compete with.
Maybe the wire will add to the authenticity and it'll be like having your axe plugged in to the amp!!

Ive only recently discovered Guitar Hero and as most of you know, its like crack cocaine. Ive only barely been able to resist the urge to go buy a ps2 and this game. The only thing that is helping me hold off is the hope of this game on 360. It is my 3rd most anticipated game of 2007. Number one being Halo 3 and number two being Halo 3.

So why is it we should care about what the box and all looks like? I never understand why people get excited over box art, prerendered screens and all this halo 3 stuff. dont get me wrong i am looking forward to halo 3 but so far almost everything that came out for it has been prerendered and no in game actual play shots.

Not always true... only cables I've been using connect my pedals to my Wireless Unit.
Having the cable doesn't add or subtract from the authenticity of playing a plastic toy guitar on a video game system.
Only way to make this game "authentic" is to stick you in front of 20,000 screaming fans with a Marshall and a Les Paul.
...nitpicking I know...

I loved Pop'n Music, but I don't get Guitar Hero. A proper guitar and the needed accessories can be had for $200, and if you master that, then you'll actually have something worth bragging about.

On the wired controller issue...it could possibly be detachable and used only to charge the controller. I did read the quote that MS was running interference on a wireless guitar though. Has anyone seen the commercial for GH2 though? The guy on the right is holding this guitar and spinning around, etc. while the other one with the PS2 guitar stands there. I had interpreted this as a way of showing that this guitar would be wireless. Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe Red Octane produced this commercial before MS gave them the news. Who knows? I'm staying optimistic that it's merely a Play-N-Charge cable.

Russel, that's probably a commercial for the other company that makes wireless guitar controllers.
