According to the latest Best Buy weekly ad, you can pick up 1600 MS Points for $5.00. All you have to do is buy any 360 game and the discounted points are yours. These are normally $20.00, so the savings are pretty substantial. The best thing about the deal is that it applies to discounted games as well. For example, Tomb Raider and GRAW are both discounted. If you haven't picked up one of these yet, you'll be getting a lot of entertainment for not a lot of money. Even better, the offer applies to online purchases, too. If you were going to grab a new game anyway, you might as well save on some MS Points, right? The offer ends on October 28th, so you'd better hurry.

1. So I bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance yesterday and grabbed a points card with it. Yep, $4.99. I get home, open the card and scratch it off to redeem it... MISPRINT!!! Missing 3 digits off the code! The bastards!

2. Here's the other good part. The $5 Gears of War preorder package counts as a 360 game, so you get your Gears preorder, a t-shirt, and 1600 MS Points for only $10.

4. Does this mean that I can preoder a game and get my points for $10, then a couple days later I could cancel my preoder. So I would get my points basically for just 5 bucks.

Or I could just leave it as be, and get 1600 ms points for $10.

No, the offer terms won't allow that. If you try to cancel the preorder, they will charge you the $15 discount you received on the points. But 1600 points and a T-Shirt for $10 is pretty damn good anyway.

The cards have an ID number in addition to the 25 digit code. You might be able to call MS CS and tell them the situation and they might be able to help you out. If not, take it back to the store and demand another one. It's not like they can't see there's a problem.

No, you just can't cancel the preorder. There is nothing that says you have to actually pick it up.
