Rainbow Six: Vegas demo video

For our American readers who have to wait for the Rainbow Six: Vegas demo -- or those that won't use this trick -- we have something that will cure what ails you. Xboxyde has posted a video of the first 10 minutes of gameplay from the demo. There's rapelling, thermal vision, and plenty of terrorist killing. In other words, the game looks like a lot of fun. Check out the video here, or a high resolution version here. Here's a crazy question, is anyone getting Rainbow Six instead of Gears of War?

This game so much fun, I played the demo till the end over and over again. Gotta say, some hard work went into it and is not gonna be a dissapointment(mispelled i think). Ending of the demo had me falling off my chair. It was raining men, lol !!!! (those of you who have played till the end get the joke) Do the trick!!!! Definitely worth it.

All the questions about who is buying this or that that or this. I have to suggest subscribing to gameznflix.com and get them all instead! Seriously its cool, you play so many more games because you're not worried about buying them. Rent them all, if you like it keep it as long as you want or buy from them at discounted price (they send you a new unopened one). If you don't like it, send it back and move on. Do the six out at a time and don't worry about how long you keep a few games because you'd still have a few more to go back and forth with. I know this sounds like a commercial, oh well, a few of you may get something out of it.

Yes.

I know what this series has in store for me. Gears...Cliffy's been hinting for a while that only the tip of the iceberg has been made available so far, and that it's not necessarily representative of the entire game.

I'll wait for the reviews, thank you very much.

Much to the chagrin of my pocket book, I think I will be picking up RB6:Vegas and Tony Hawk Project 8. After those two wear off, Gears of War and/or Call of Duty 3.

Though I really wish it was already time for Forza 2/Lost Planet/Blue Dragon/Assassin's Creed. Oh 2007, you will be grand.

These games really have little in common. They both have interesting cover mechanics, but the gameplay is totally different. One is a tactical shooter, one is a balls out action shooter.

Both really cater to different gaming moods.

You aren't going to find any boss fights against giant subteranian beasts in rainbow six.

and you aren't going to be dealing with a tense hostage situation in gears.

buying one over the other really just limits your gaming fun.

it's way different than say, choosing unreal tournament over quake 3

Well since Gears has basically over-loaded me with hype and haven't given me a chance to play the game for myself (outside of some speciality event) Rainbow Six will get my $$$ first! Thats what a demo will do to people (hello Epic). If I hear one more stupid chainsaw reference or see that same escape the prison block level one more time I think I will freak out! I definately recommend trying the demo.

Is it just the video, or do the textures, especially on the ubiquitous metal boxes, look like absolute crap?

It's probably just the flash video.

I'd have to say that it was quite fun, but the graphics weren't very impressive. Eight months later and this still doesn't look as good as GRAW?

I might give this one another try after a multiplayer demo.

Demo is F____ing NUTS. The controls are by far some of the best tactical shooter controls I have ever experienced. And I would even argue its better than the keyboard and mouse, just because of how the controllers so relaxing in your hands & how incredibly smooth the controls are. The controls really cant get better than this. Personally I wish GRAW was on par with this game, but hopefully the next one will be. I know the PC version was to some degree.

The sound is nothing short of awesome, especially on a 5.1 setup. The weapons sound surreal, and I know they held back a bit so they speakers will live a bit longer. There was a heavy emphasis placed on sound in this game. Helps you make decisions without relying on the map.

Its sad that I don't have the cash for this title when it comes out, as I preordered Gears. But, its looking like a nice Christmas present for sure.

the demo is a lot of fun. It has a really tactical feel to it. They actually made it fun to go slowly through the level moving from cover to cover. The graphics don't look as good as GRAW, but the action, sound, and controls make up for it. Is it me or does it look like it isn't running at true 720P?? I'm playing it for the 4th time at the hardest difficulty right now.

I plan on getting Rainbow over Gears of War. Rainbow Six games have always had a way of uniting my friends, so we all have something to play, and Vegas looks like it'll be the same way.

Buying both as well - for those contemplating an OXM (December issue) purchase for the R6 demo disc, go for it - it includes a coupon booklet for Circuit City, including 15% of coupon for GOW!!! Takes a little sting out of buying both ;-)

PUT THAT IN YOUR PS3 AND SMOKE IT
