Movie website Dark Horizons has a tiny snippet of info regarding the Halo movie: Denzel Washington is rumored to be up for the role of Master Chief. The rumor is one sentence long, halfway down the page, and has no source listed:
"Latest rumours have Denzel Washington as the favourite for Master Chief."
If there was an article associated with this headline, it has since been removed.
My take: I don't know about Denzel being the Chief. Personally, I think that role should be filled by an unknown. However, I do think Denzel would make an excellent Sgt. A. J. Johnson.

I don't think Denzel would have a problem working with the team that won basically *every* major Oscar in 2003. I'm not saying it's going to be a great movie, but it sure as hell ain't Uwe Boll.

Isn't the movie based on the first book? So yeah, he does get out of armor quite a few time. Especially during his childhood, all the way through his adult hood. Especially when he goes to the meeting at ONI.

Actually, in the books you get to see snippets of Master Chief growing up, and you get to see him go through the process of upgrading his mjolnr armour.
I'd be really disappointed if they didn't let you see Master Chief's formative years and the whole story behind the spartans. But Carl Weathers would *rock* as Sgt A Johnson.

Just scanned through and so i might of missed it but no one has thought/said that Denzel might be lined up for the part of Sargent Johnson? As all the only (sorta) fact is thats that he had meetings with Jackson and the reporter just jumped on the idea if him playing Master Chief and not another character in the series. I think him playing Johnson is slightly more likely especially as the Master Chief is described in the books as white.

this film hasn't had a director attached for over a year, a very bad sign. Denzel would not go in the direction of jean claude, the rock, and mila jovavich. He's too smart of an actor to take up a terrible role like this.

You don't need to see Master Chief (and if you ever do,it will come in the game before some movie) so all you do is get a big dude who's got a background of using big suits and costumes in movies and voice it over with Downes. Easy as that,jesus.

having denzel in the movie is a fine idea, minus the master cheif role. the mc is young white and 7 foot tall. I assume they will cg the mc most of the time anyway and a little tricky camara work for the rest of the non-suit shots. the transporter guy could prolly pull it off though.
