Japanese media briefing in April: new RPG?

So it looks like Microsoft of Japan will be dropping the skinny on some new games that'll be on the way for the Japanese (and maybe other countries too). Takashi Sensui will be giving a 90 minute presentation to the media on upcoming titles for the Xbox 360. Remember that bit we did earlier this month regarding a mystery RPG? Famitsu broke the news concerning a yet-to-be-announced role playing game that reportedly has huge potential to sell big numbers over there.

This could be when we finally hear about that RPG title. The write-up mentions that the worldwide market will get a taste of this announcement too, not just the Japanese. Could this mystery RPG, whatever it is, make it to the States? Maybe so. The media address won't be until April 6th, so keep your ear to the ground for more on this later.

2. I don't think it's Shenmue 3 since that's not a true RPG, but I was curious whether Sega has mentioned a third installment coming out on the 360 at any point. Anybody have info?

3. @ #2: There was some rumors flying around that the game was actually finished, and they just are yet to release it, but Sega officially denounced that. As far as I know the information on it is neither here nor there -- no official conformations or denying that it could happen.

And as far as this whole announcement goes, I think it's gonna take a lot more than announcing one RPG to get Japanese gamers on board. Unless of course they've aquired a major franchise, but other than that, I don't know if their's much that can save Microsoft's sinking ship in Japan. I guess we'll just have to wait and see until some more games they might be interested in start launching.

4. Well, if that one RPG is Final Fantasy XIII, then yes, that will be enough.

I hope they pick up something good, because I want to see more Japanese games make it onto my 360.

I'm still hoping for Phantasy Star V myself.
