Introducing the MadCatz Xbox 360 Game Pad Pro. What makes it Pro? Why, the rubber grips off course! I have always shunned 3rd party controllers, opting for the slightly more expensive, but always much better quality, official controllers. Anachronistic features like turbo buttons and gimmicky features like rubber grips immediately send me running. This controller does have one unique feature: Analog joystick invert switch. When playing at friends, I'm constantly fumbling to invert the Y-axis. While at their houses I think this feature might get a lot of use; on my own console, it's already set the way I like it.
On the other hand, TeamXbox bestowed an impressive 9.2/10 on the controller gushing, "...we believe the Mad Catz GamePad Pro is a better design that the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller...."
Anyone try this thing out? Are we better off spending an extra $5 to $15 and getting Microsoft's beauties.

At first glance, I would give that controller a chance. It IS a better design. The Start and Back buttons are positioned in a much more logical place to avoid some of the accidental "press-age" they seem to get on the original design.

One thing I immediately saw that I like is the movement of the back/start buttons. I play Madden 2006 with friends quite a lot, and they are always hitting the pause button because it's so close to (X). I may pick one of these up as a secondary controller for just that reason.

While searching for the perfect controller for Tiger Woods I purchased this controller however it did not cure my ills. It seemed kind of cheesy over all and I did not like the long throw of the sticks. I ended up with the NEO Se from Joytech wich so far has worked out great excluding the headset/mic port which doesn't seem to hold in the plug very well.
Speaking of headset, has any one else had problems with theirs dying? I'm on my second one.

I've always liked Madcatz controllers. In fact, no one in my house uses the Microsoft controllers for the original Xboxes. Two guys like the regular sized controllers while the rest of us really like the older Micron controllers. Unfortunately, I must admit that they only last a couple of months of Halo 2, but they have been fine with any other game.

I wanted to pick one up for Tiger Woods - hoping to use the turbo for that damn LB power up thing!!
They didn't have them at my Best Buy or Circuit City though.. Not too crazy about being teathered again either!

I thought I was the only one in the world who inverted the Y axis. Does anyone actually invert the X axis though?

I got this controller, I like the triggers and the start button placement better but the official controller just looks higher quality and the sticks on the madcatz are a lil too long and thin, making it impossible to press l3 or r3 without moving the stick...

I bought a MadCatz controller for N64 once. Either it was defective, or they all don't work as expected.
Basically, the lovely turbo light turned itself on automatically for every button as soon as you plugged it in. You couldn't turn it off, either.

I tried to get this controller (I live in England), and couldnt find it anywhere, I went to all the places that usually sell 3rd party pads, Toys R Us, Blockbuster etc. to no avail.
So I ended up just buying another official microsoft one. Madcatz, supply the UK some damn controllers, you are losing money!

Logitech's wireless controller for the original xbox is arguably the nicest controller both design-wise and quality-wise for the xbox, so 3rd party controllers are not always inferior to the original.

TeamXbox seems to have a problem with Microsoft lately, and since a lot of their staff doesn't even own an Xbox 360, I wouldn't trust much of what they say.
