Precious video games and your stories, how we do love thee. But when your story ends with us wanting more, we cry how badly. And the good folks at CVG posted what they feel have been the worst video game endings of all time. On the list appear some Xbox titles including Fable, Shenmue 2, KOTOR II, and Halo 2. As a whole, it looks like the one way to avoid angering fans is by not ending the game with a big cliff-hanger. Some fans feel that paying for the game is right enough to be entitled to some conclusion. We aren't that annoyed by cliff-hangers (here's looking at you Halo 2), because our anticipation for the sequel is all the more heightened. Do you know of another game that didn't make CVG's list that has a horrible ending?[Via Digg]

I know I probably shouldn't post this on an xbox fanboy site, but here it goes...
C:12 Final Resistance on the PS1 had the worst ending of all time. The end boss was a nasty piece of shit, one that I couldn't beat even. I ended up using cheats to see what the ending of the game was like. Let me tell you, if I had been gruling to see the ending I'm about to tell you, I would have been pissed.
The ending was basically the commander saying some boring piece of crap and the lead character (the terminator look-a-like) walking out a door and getting on a plane.... That was it. I wasn't happy

I vote for Pariah on the original Xbox. While it wasn't a bad game IMHO, the ending stunk to high heaven. After you go through the entire campaign and beat the final boss, the main character you play commits suicide.
Stupid.

Hands down has to be Fable...they give you the sword so you think there is more of the game and you slowly realize at it is over as there is nothing else to do.

The worst game ending in recent memory would have to go to Beyond Good & Evil. Great game, set up an intruguing story, had a cool end-boss that made you defeat him with backwards controls, then...nothing. No answer to any of the questions the story sets up along the way. Nothing about Jade's family, her pig friend. Just nothing.
Obviously, I was pissed.

Ubi-Soft's recent Rayman Raving Rabbids has a terrible ending. You beat the game and when you escape he remembers that his buddies are still captured by the rabbids. So, he jumps into a rabbit hole to save them, and gets stuck at the hips. The sun sets and the games ends. Very anticlimactic.
On the 360 though Enchanted Arms has the most terrible ending I've encountered: Save the world and what do you get? Some lame jokes and homosexual innuendo...

Went on a mini-rant at 'Stiq about it, but I find the the horror genre has consistently been the worst. Condemned ... FEAR ... Cold Fear. Disappointing or flat-out awful endings to otherwise half decent games.
Thanks to youtube am I ever glad I didn't spend any length of time with Sewer Shark for 3DO. If I had played all thru that just to get that craptastic jerkoff ending I would have become a serial killer.

Saint's Row had a bad ending but, seems like that was the only way to end it.

Most of the Hitman games had some pretty unfulfilling endings.
Halo 2 is pretty much one of the worst, considering Halo: CE was one of the best. Fighting an end boss (Tartarus) is just one big cliche, followed by a marketing tool of an ending.
Pretty much all cliffhangers or 'deliberately-vague' endings are disappointing. Although with the ability to unlock achievements with the 360, actually ending the game has become less of a goal, but in a good way.

Yeah, KOTOR II has no real ending. It's the most wretched mess I've ever seen, and I was pissed. Because I loved the first game so much.

The worse? If you include PC games, the Eye of the Beholder 2 is the worse, hands down. After you kill the final boss, the hard disk runs a bit and... you get a text screen indicating that you've save the day. That's it! A text screen!

Ultima IV, while fantastic, was a long, complicated, and extremely difficult game to finish. It's minimalist ending should be high on any of these "worst ending ever" lists.

@ 10, Insomnious
Blood Money was somewhat better. You have to give props for that faux funeral bit.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for the Xbox should be one there for sure. Not only does the story in the game suck, but you end up fighting a war against yourself. And in the end you end up fighting someone that never shows up in the game until the last level.

Saints Row.
Dead Rising's ending was pretty dumb as well.
It seems like weve been getting a surplus of super fun games with super bad endings.
