Some 100 years later, Bladestorm goes gold

Today, KOEI made the announcement that Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War has officially gone gold and will be on retail shelves November 6th. And just in case you've forgotten, there is a Bladestorm demo currently residing on the XBLM (available to all Xbox Live regions) if you're feeling the need to give the game a test drive before November comes. That's about all we've got for you as far as Bladestorm news goes, so now we think we're going to head off and try to perfect the ancient Chinese art of hacking and slashing. Stab, swing, duck, stab, stab, swing, duck. Repeat.

Bladestorm demo storms XBLM Thursday [update]

[Update: It seems our cynicism got the best of us. Turns out that Bladestorm isn't the hundredth hack n' slash war game from KOEI. It's more akin to the Kingdom Under Fire series actually (which is now becoming a hack n' slash in a bizarre coincidence). While you do hack and slash your enemies, you have more direct control over your various troops. As punishment for our ignorance, we will subject ourselves to three days of Full House reruns.]

No, it's not the long awaited console port of BloodStorm, it's Bladestorm, another hack n' slash fest from KOEI. According to CVG, a demo for the game should hit Marketplace on Thursday. Taking a break from the seemingly endless conflicts of ancient China, Bladestorm centers around the Hundred Years War of Europe and stars a few historical celebrities like Jeanne D'Arc. Lest you are unfamiliar with KOEI's war games, you'd best prepare yourself to hit the X button a lot. Every once in a while you may be expected to hit the Y button as well. So, um, start practicing.

Europe gets Fatal Inertia demo soon, others to follow

Today, KOEI announced that demos for upcoming games Fatal Inertia, Dynasty Warriors: GUNDAM and Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War will be releasing to Europe's XBLM in the coming months. Yes, it's true that both Fatal Inertia and DW: GUNDAM demos are available on the XBLM right now, but (for unknown reasons) they are not available to European Xbox Live members. So, KOEI is announcing that the Fatal Inertia demo will be available to European Xbox Live members on August 14th with DW: GUNDAM and Bladestorm demos releasing sometime in October. And be sure not to get too angry fellow European fanboys about receiving delayed demos, because everyone is getting to play the BioShock demo at the same time (except Japan). See, you feel better already.

Dynasty Warriors 6 is 360 bound

Previously thought to only appear on the PS3, developer Koei announced that Dynasty Warriors 6 will be headed to the Xbox 360 too. Today, Koei confirmed the news saying that DW6 is scheduled to appear on the PS3 and Xbox 360 simultaneously this Fall. And if you don't know, the Dynasty Warriors franchise is teh hawtness over in Japan with a few fans sprinkled in North American and Europe (we kid, we kid!) and its release on the 360 should make for another even "we have this game too" playfield with the PS3.

It's a deadly, no it's a Fatal Inertia demo on the XBLM

Available on the Marketplace to US and Japanese Xbox Live members is a brand new and steamy Fatal Inertia demo. The demo, which clocks in at 380MB, takes place in a "brave new world of combat racing" and features "gravity-defying machines [that] are no longer confined to the speedways and stadiums of centuries past". Sounds like some Awesomeness with a capital "A" to us ... or it could be very lame. So, we recommend garnering your opinion when you finish downloading the Fatal Inertia demo and giving it a try. You know, because that's how you roll.

Fatal Inertia dated, now a 360 exclusive?

One of Koei's once PS3 exclusive games now seems to be headed to the 360 exclusively. Today, Koei released some screenshots and announced that their futuristic racer Fatal Inertia will hit retailers September 11th on the Xbox 360 console. But oddly enough developer Koei didn't mention any PS3 release date for the game. Surely it was a PR mistake, how could they forget about the PS3 version to which it was once exclusive to? Well, the Wired Blog crew contacted Koei to get an official response about the status of the PS3 version. Koei responsed by stating that the PS3 version is "delayed indefinitely" due to "progress of the game engine for PS3". Interesting enough, seeing that Fatal Inertia uses the Unreal Engine 3. No matter, September 11th is the street date on the 360 and that's all that matters.

KOEI announces Warriors Orochi

Ah, giant, button-mashing battle games from KOEI. You either love them or hate them. As such, the newly announced Warriors Orochi will either be your dream come true or your ultimate nightmare. If you'd like a feel for what the game entails, imagine a Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors mega-mix. Warriors Orochi features 77 playable characters take from both series. It also features a crossover storyline to bring the characters together. There is a new thee character tag system, which allows you to switch characters while the other two regain health and energy. The game also includes a new weapon system which allows you to create new weapons using attributes from others.

Warriors Orochi will be available September 18th. We faintly recall that something is coming out the following week.
