Go! Go! to the XBLA for Break Steady & 1942

Welcome to yet another Wednesday XBLA update. This week the Arcade gets Go! Go! Break Steady and the revamped classic 1942: Joint Strike. Each clocking in at 800MS points both are now available for download from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Go! Go! Break Steady is a rhythm title that sports 30 levels of break dancing action alone or with up to one other player over Xbox Live. 1942: Joint Strike brings the classic shooter into a 3D environment as you maneuver WWII-era aircrafts and take on huge waves of incoming enemy fire which can be played cooperatively over Xbox Live. Check them out today!

Go! Go! Break Steady and 1942: Joint Strike make their way to the XBLA this Wed.

The Microsoft folks just announced that this Xbox Live Arcade release Wednesday, both Go! Go! Break Steady and 1942: Joint Strike will be making their way to the XBLA. And for 800 Microsoft points each, no less.

And just in case you wanted to know a bit more about each title, developer Little Boy Games' debut title Go! Go! Break Steady is a mix between the music and puzzle genres utilizing 20 original tracks. As far as 1942: Joint Strike goes, it's a Backbone Entertainment developed remake of the original top down vertical shooter Joint Strike featuring co-op gameplay and plenty of explosive goodness. Screenshots will be added when they become available. Galleries added below.

Go! Go! Break Steady site update and video

We haven't seen much of the XBLA rhythm game from new studio Little Boy Games since its announcement around GDC. From the video the game seems to borrow heavily from many other rhythm games, but tries to do its own thing by incorporating characters, style, and slightly more varied mechanics. Since the game looks relatively deep, our main concern at this point is the games ability to find and hold an audience. With the production value of the trailer and the new site, it would be a shame to see such an enthusiastic effort fail. Supposedly a summer release title, Go! Go! Break Steady looks to be well on track, and should with luck find its niche in the untapped Live Arcade rhythm game market.

GDC08: Penny Arcade, Braid, Schizoid and GGBS screenshot blowout

As part of the whirlwind GDC announcement fest that went on yesterday, we sort of lacked the time and energy to organize all the screenshots we obtained from Microsoft's Summer release Arcade press kits. But we've had our beauty sleep, drank our morning cup of coffee and diligently put together new XBLA galleries and added screenshots to old ones. So, if you take a looksy after the break, you'll see new screenshots galore for XBLA games including Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Braid, Schizoid and Go! Go! Break Steady. Enjoy the media as we take a quick break to refill our coffee.
