In our continuing effort to bring you fresh and interesting content, X3F presents Would You Rather ... a weekly feature that asks you the hard questions. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?
The recent comments from the N+ leaders have had us thinking? What's more beneficial to the XBLA brand? New IPs or remakes of classic arcade titles? While arguments can be made from both sides it only take a few moments of nostalgia to think of a half dozen titles we'd like to see thrown on the platform in downloadable bite-sized form.
Well here's this weeks tough question. If you had to choose, one of the other (without sitting on the fence for once!) which would it be?
Feel free to share the reasons for your vote in the comments. We'll share the results of the poll during the next edition of Would You Rather ... which hits X3F every Wednesday.
Last weeks WUR results can be find after the jump ... click here to go back to the past!

Plain and simple your voice was heard, if you voted by actually reading the post. Convenience doesn't mean a thing when it comes to classic collections. You want the real thing on your shelf and collecting dust or not at all. We recommend you purchase a new cabinet, possibly a shelf. That way when you're sleeping in the bathtub because of your overgrown collection you'll at least be proud that what you own is in alphabetical order. We kid! We kid!

Originals, of course. I am so tired of remakes. I want new experiences, damnit.
Speaking of which, Nintendo needs to create some more new IPs.

I agree with Digital Limit. We have plenty of ports now available on XBLA for those that want to relive their youth, from now own MS should focus on original content.

Exactly. I paid for the game once. I don't want to pay for it a second/third time

On XBLA I agree w/ Digital, we need more originality and less rehashed crap. Personally I set the bar higher for a remake purchase than an original content purchase. I have to love the remade title to throw $5 or $10 at it, I'm far less critical with original stuff.
About nintendo though, I think they've been and alway will be killing it w/ new LoZs, Mario Karts, Smash Bros, etc.

Original ftw! Most (if not all) ports have a very short life-span :( and they're not as fun as they used to be back in the 8-bit/16 bit days.

I prefer original, but i'm fine with old games as long as they put the time and effort into them to redo the games (like Prince of Persia & Bionic Commando).

I reject the whole premise. I want both. I see no reason why they can't co-exist. For every crappy old school remake, there is a crappy new school original. I just want better games all around.

This is what I meant by no sitting on the fence. It's not like if you answer all ports or original IPs will vanish!

Chill doods. I voted. I still get to whine about it. It's my right as an internet user.

The thing that I'd most like to see to manage the XBLA catalog is the ability to hide titles that you've bought or that you're not interested in (seen the demo, hated it!) They could stay hidden until there's new content for them, but it would instantly allow me to declutter the interface and make new titles more visible.
As for the poll, I love both new and old titles, but I prefer getting new IP, although I'd bundle redesigned and reworked versions of older games with that.

How about good ports? I mean, there were a few ports that I was actually going to get - and then the port was bad and they wanted 800 points for something fundamentally broken.

Tough call, but I had to go for the remakes/classics......SWOS, Bomberman, Puzzle Fighter to name but three.....all great.
But yeah, I like the fact that they can mix it up a bit and put out a classic one week, and then something completely new the next......

I'm not against them, per se, and I WANT to support original titles, but I'm not going to spend my money willy-nilly (I just wanted to say willy-nilly) on a bunch of crap until they make more that are more worthwhile.
Most of the "originals" seem to pretty much be remakes of older games, anyway, which should be apparent to anyone that has been gaming for long enough.
Undoubtedly, there will be a lot of crap to wade, through, but I have a good feeling about the potential of user created games that could end up making an appearance.

Gun to my head? I gotta choose remakes/ports. I know I know I'm a terrible person and I'm responsible for the 8 millionth incarnation of "Donkey Kong" But my faith is shaken that anything new and great can be made while keeping the mb limit under 150. (Castle Crashers not included) Plus just thinking of all the old classics that deserve a chance on XBLA pushes me over to the dark side.

Actually, I'm there with you. I suppose my excuse is simply that I'm a middle aged gamer, with alot of fond memories of the old school games. Hell, I'd pay to see star raider and starfleet on xbla, as well as many, many others.

Both choices have their pros and cons. You'll get crap on both ends and at the same time, you'll want the good stuff from days of yore.
I will abstain from this poll.
