On the Joystiq article I got the impression he was talking about Japan and Europe, and not the US, it seems that you just want to take the Michael.
In Europe and Japan the PS3 is doing very well, I am not claiming that the 360 is failing, but between the PS3 and the 360 so many people have bought the Wii that there aren't many left to buy the PS3 and the 360, so the numbers are much closer than you would ever imagine.
I have both, and they are both great. I spend much more time on the 360 because I had it first, and it has alot of games that aren't on the PS3, and I am an Achievement Whore, so I will always choose the 360 version to get the AP, but if a game is exclusive I am more than happy to pick it up for the PS3 if it is a good game.

Since when was the PS3 an "epic fail"? Competition is a good thing.

Yeah, I love the 360 right, but for me, this hardcore fanboy-ish stuff grew old years ago. Can we get a middle ground? Don't hate for the sake of hating.

A possible explanation for the PS3 selling 'well' in europe is due to the fact that BD sales in Europe are mush higher than HD-DVD. Now coupled with the fact that the PS3 is the cheapest BD player (that i know of) AND the stats that proved PS3 owners buy more BD movies than games, i can only assume the basis of this guys comments (i.e. we're gunna sell like hotcakes blah blah blah) is the presumed notion that BD will kill HD DVD by Dec 08.
From a games point of view, the X360 is by far the biggest selling software platform there is - i mean 23% more SW was sold on the x360 v the WII and the X360 sold double the SW the PS3 did over Q4 2007. Also EA (2nd largest publisher) sold more SW on the X360 than EVERY other platform combined. Ok so now factor in 40% of each sale goes directly to MS - i think Microsoft are and WILL continue to cane the PS3 ESPECIALLY when it comes to games SW.
At the end of the day if the PS3 has a similar 2008 to that of 2007, one can foresee the "console war" dying off in favor of the X360.
PS Home - PLEASE !!!???!!!

It's a shame that Sony has to result in skewing the truth... It might catch up with the 360 in the USA about the time that there is even a newer Xbox console.

Too bad there's no nesting replies here so I could reply specifically to users but anyways, VGChartz is the easiest way to show comparisons.
Red line. http://tinyurl.com/3xojgl
PS3 is not winning in cumulative sales (how could they be? time was against them), but won over the holiday in EU.

Seems to me with Wii also launched late, just like the PS3, and it hasn't had a problem overtaking cumalative sales.

This whole PS3 is now movement is a lesson in delusional tactics. Sir Stringer so now that you can't corner the North American market (the bread and butter of the VG industry) you go around beating your chest about dominating in Luxembourg, Latvia, and Azerbaijan well good for you. I hear those attachment rates in those countries are second to none. We all know Japan is not straying from the PS3 it just won't happen, as that country will probably be the most racist country on earth come 2027 where people of many different ethnic backgrounds will at least have a 1% of being a leading political figure in their transplant countries.
This whole talk about the 360 in decline is the single most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. Please back it up with stats, the 360 has been selling more and more every month since its release. Besides the UK and U.S. it usually takes the world market to catch up to our trends. I guarantee a substantial price drop this year for the 360, more lost exclusives for Sony due to the most aggressive market in the world having market defying attachment rates, and more awareness of the microsoft's big green machine in secondary markets like Italy, Spain, France, and Latin America. Quit fooling yourselves Sony fans.
Also JRPG's are going to go the way of the dinosaur they only exist to sell to niche markets now. FPS titles are going to be single handily responsible in keeping the JRPG market alive. Enjoy the symbiotic relationship fanboys!

Say what you want but last time I checked, as ridiculous as our cultural trends have been, America is still the leader when it comes to cultural influence and market trends. Saying otherwise is complete and utter denial.

This would be MS's own fault sony is still alive with the ps3 instead of beating it while it was down.
MS has made poor choices over and over again.
Sony's online network is free, 360 has a high failure rate, xbox originals without achievements, achievements with no meaning, very poor customer service, letting 3rd party developers put games that are actually good on that pile of crap ps3 instead of buying them out like COD4 and RB6V, letting epic get Unreal on ps3 first, DMR issues that continue to plague 360 owners including myslef, the list goes on and on. I love the 360 but you can only mess up so many times before you loose the foothold you had on the market and MS lack of a killer instinct is exactly what is allowing the ps3 to survive, before you know it it will out sell 360 all around. Thats when the pink slips will start to get handed out over at MS.
Get job and keep up the track record and see where it gets you MS.

What on earth are you talking about!?
I agree that the xbox originals w/o achievements is kind of lame, but it's not that big of a mistake seeing as any sales they make off of that is pure profit at this point. The one time I had to talk to Microsoft customer service they were excellent. In terms of buying out exclusives, that's not always feasible. In terms of achievements, I would say they have been amazingly successful. Someone in an earlier post mentioned that if a game comes out on both systems, he'll get it on the 360 purely for the points.

Yawn. I thought sonys ego had gone, guess not.
The 360 is selling well in the UK and in America. As much as people like to think Japan is where it's at, it isn't all that important anymore.
America is where the biggest profit is at and the UK? Well as far as i know we're the biggest profit to be made in Europe, the other European country's, from what I've heard (although this is no where near a fact) aren't all that big on video games and sales are fairly poor all around compared to American/Japanese.
Point is, the 360 can survive and stay in front of Sony by doing well in the USA and UK. By the time sony catch up, it'll be time for new consoles and the Rep can spin his bullshit all he likes, it isn't going to change much.

for the PS3 to catch up to the X360 they have to outperform on a games front. ok so they released Drake, but that was blown out of the water by Halo 3 and bioshock. If MS can ship Alan Wake, Halo Wars, GTA 4 DLC, NG II, Splinter Cell conviction etc this year AND create MORE exclusives, the PS3 and the over rated MGS series face an upward task.
For the record XBOX Live is far better than the PSN

God this is exactly why i don't respect any xbox journalism. I have all 3 consoles, and i must say that all of the fanboyism shown in xbox mag. and sites like this are pitiful. Leave the fanboyism to the 15 year old gamers. If you look at Playstation mag or even PS3 fanboy, you won't see any fanboy crap trying to bash 360 like you see here on this site, or xbox mag. Give me some damn 360 news minus the fanboy bullshit please.

My gawd, when it comes to biased reporting and spin, the only site worse then PS3 Fanboy is sdf. Go troll elsewhere, efeez.

Jesus christ Knight Marquise, you are a perfect example of a fanboy freak. Why are you stalking me? Get a girlfriend asap you weirdo. Does Microsoft have some kind of brainwashing program in the 360's, because i haven't came across it yet on my 360. I hate you fucking diehard fanboy freaks who act like stockholders instead of gamers. You don't work for Microsoft you freak, so shut the hell up. You probably don't even have a 360 to begin with. Stop stalking me you fucking pillow biter.

"Jesus christ Knight Marquise, you are a perfect example of a fanboy freak."
Really? Because I call you out for what you are? It's comical how you "hate the fucking diehard fanboys" when discussing Xbox 360 fans, however, that same opinion doesn't carry over to PS3 Fanboy, or the posters there. Take your hyperbole somewhere else, you tool bag.
"Why are you stalking me?"
Stalking? LOL!!! I post on various blogs, just as you do. Don't flatter yourself.
"Get a girlfriend asap you weirdo."
What that has to do with a video game blog, I have no idea, however, I'm happily married, so I'll have to pass on the girlfriend suggestion.
"Does Microsoft have some kind of brainwashing program in the 360's, because i haven't came across it yet on my 360."
That's a rather uneducated question, and the answer equally obvious. I would assume "brainwashing" would fall under the "new format" category...so if its even possible, I'd check the Sony console for that feature first. It's likely Sony Proprietary.
"I hate you fucking diehard fanboy freaks"
You always mention that, when discussing the Xbox360, but for whatever reason, it doesn't seem to apply to PS3 Fanbots. Try to be a little more consistant with your rantings, would you?
"..who act like stockholders instead of gamers."
Actually, I'm both. To aid you in your enlightenment, those two words are not mutually exclusive. Welcome to the 21st Century.
"You don't work for Microsoft you freak,"
Well, actually, you don't know that either. Are you channelling those gurgling sounds from your lower orafice again, or perhaps you're stalking me and my daily commute to work?
Nevertheless, for those enquiring minds, who need to know: No, I don't work for Microsoft.
"so shut the hell up."
Ahh..the winning argument for every adolescent PS3 fanbot looking to increase his E-Peen size on the internet. I'll try to answer with similar terms: -10; you phail.
"You probably don't even have a 360 to begin with."
Actually I've purchased 7 for myself and family members, but only 5 actually reside in various rooms within my house. Be that as it may...was this another one of your moments of clairvoyance? If so, Miss Cleo has nothing to fear.
"Stop stalking me you fucking pillow biter."
Hmm...I'm not stalking, however you certainly do exhibit signs reminiscent of a persecution complex. Seek help. Now. If I may make a suggestion, look in the yellow pages, under "Tool Bag Self Help Programs".
Next.
