New Fable 2 screens, New Fable games coming
With Microsoft's Gamers' Day going on tomorrow, and some of their thunder already stolen, it's good to see that there is still much left to be seen. These new screens are accompanied by some new info as well, though the few new details will likely pale in comparison to tomorrow's news. For now the news is that the game is about 20-30 times larger than the first, it has dynamic weather and seasons, and it won't be the last Fable game. In fact, Lionhead apparently has three more titles left for future release. Whether or not the Fable 2 Arcade games are included in that count was not mentioned (though it seems likely).
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata 2: Trouble in Paradise details
Thanks to the newest issue of Game Informer there is now even more news about Rare's newest 360 outings. Regarding Viva Pinata 2, the article says that the game now sports online two player drop-in/drop-out co-op, a massively expanded trading card system, over thirty new pinatas, a photo mode, and more. Now as for Banjo, there's going to be over 1600 parts to find and use, note finding is back and is the game's currency, and Rare says that they really wanted to avoid making a hi-res old Banjo game. Hit the break for more info.

Rumor: Xbox 540 (360 slim) in 2009?

In a follow up to the news that the 360's internal hardware will be changed to the "Jasper" setup, there is now the news that the "Valhalla" update mentioned in that story is more than just a CPU and GPU on the same chip. TG Daily thinks that the Valhalla chip will be the heart of a complete hardware revision in Fall 2009, ala the slimline PS2. While that would seem the logical course of action, all that we know for sure is that the Valhalla chip will indeed be used in the "mid-cycle refresh" of the hardware, and that it is in fact an "all-in-one" chip. Whether or not Microsoft will actually change the outer shell or not is unknown, and the Valhalla hardware update could come and go without changing the outer look of the console at all.Rumor: 'Lips' isn't a game, it's a new accessory
The mystery of the "Lips" game (news that was leaked days early thanks to Microsoft's press site) is seeing another twist, with word that "Lips" really isn't a game. Instead, "Lips" is rumored to be the codename for a new Xbox 360 accessory.8Bit Joystick is reporting that months ago they got a hold of insider documents from the Xbox 360 engineering team and came across mention of a new 360 voice accessory code named "Lips". No more information was detailed in the supposed insider documents, but 8Bit Joystick speculates that these "Lips" will either be a new way to communicate or will add voice recognition to games. We aren't sure if that makes much sense seeing that we have a perfectly functioning headset that does voice recognition, but we'll go with it seeing that "Lips" speculation is more fun when thinking about new accessories. So ... is tomorrow's news here yet?
'Lips' and 'Ninja Blade' revealed, what are they?

We guess that "Lips" will turn out being an XBLA game where players administer beauty enhancing lip injections to plump up the lips of insecure, wannabe actors. And for "Ninja Blade", it's a simulation game where you have a blade, named Ninja, who you treat like a pet dog. Now it's your turn to guess ... get to it!

Viva PiƱata and Scene It? sequels are real!

Mention of both sequels was discovered on one of Microsoft's press sites, where someone accidently uploaded all of the categories for this week's MGD08 announcements including categories for Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise and Scene It? 2. And being the good reporters that we are, we went out and confirmed that both of these two unannounced titles are in fact listed on Microsoft's press site, though all game media has since been pulled. But not before the crew over at NeoGAF grabbed screenshot love from the Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise folder. So, not only do we get leaked word that Viva Piñata and Scene It? sequels are headed our way, but we also get a first look at Trouble in Paradise! Enjoy the screens!

Rumor: Rare game a sequel to a released 360 title
More rumors folks! This time it's in regards to that unannounced Rare game that's going to be hitting before year's end. According to a poster on NeoGAF who claims to be under NDA (a claim backed up by other posters' reactions to the info), the title is a sequel to a game of Rare's that has already been released on the 360. Logically, that narrows things down quite a bit. Is it Kameo? With Banjo Kazooie on the way? No. A Perfect Dark game? With Gears 2 on the way? No. Jetpac Re-Refueled? Hell No.
Given that this is a rumor, we could still be way off base, but we're gonna call this one as a Viva Pinata sequel. If it is, hopefully Microsoft will actually market it this time around, so people know about it and it actually sells.

First Ninja Gaiden 2 DLC: Hello Horse Armor [update]
With so much Ninja Gaiden news arriving this week we're having a little trouble keeping pace. What with the pre-orders, the videos, the generally liberal amount of blood, and the "Power Rangers for grown-ups" character design, things having been looking pretty good. So it was only logical that there would be some bad news eventually. In this case it's the return of the deadly Horse Armor Syndrome. Come this July, Live will see DLC the likes of which it has not seen since the dark days of the early Marketplace. Each of the first three pieces of DLC is just a skin, just a texture and model. Just, ya know, Horse Armor. Those in Europe will receive a download code for their Dress-Up Ninja™ DLC packs as their pre-order bonus, but the rest of us will have to pay 200pts per pack if we want them. And sadly, (so long as there is some sort of Hurricane-Pack-thing as well) we really do want them.
Update: Microsoft has clarified that the 200 point DLC will in fact contain five new costumes, not just one.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]
A few Ninja Gaiden 2 pre-order bonuses
In lieu of any sort of collectors edition, Ninja Gaiden 2 appears to be getting all manner of pre-order bonuses. First it was Circuit City giving away the Halo 3 Legendary maps with a pre-order, and now it's Walmart and Amazon, getting into the act with their own pre-order trinkets. In a similar move to the one with Iron Man, Ninja Gaiden 2 can be bought with a $10 gift card thrown in (Amazon). And if you really like the box art than you could pre-order from, *shudder* Walmart, who are giving away a wall scroll of the box art with their pre-order. Really, with so many games getting collectors editions these days, just give one of those Microsoft! Hey, it's Ninja Gaiden, we'd buy it.

1up will have exclusive Gears 2 video on Friday
The headline says it all folks. 1up seems to have gotten their hands on some new Gears 2 footage, and come Friday we are going to be, by their own admission, blown away. We're thinking massive amounts of enemies on-screen and nice water, but whether or not we'll be privy to anything at all close to gameplay is unsure. Epic has proved before that their Unreal engine is up to the job, but gamers will want more than just a tech demo. For now it's just a waiting game till week's end. Oh, and the video won't go live till 10:30pm PST so those of you overseas or cross country may have wait until morning. Boo hoo.Ninja Gaiden 2 gameplay, werewolves and more
After seeing the reveal of the senior Hayabusa today, we didnt think there would be anything more to add to the pile of Ninja Gaiden awesomeness for the day, and we were wrong. The newest snippet of gameplay is centered around the lunar staff and depicts werewolves, some crazy fiend bugs and the regular old spider ninjas. The enemies don't really appear to be much of a threat in the video, and we're hoping that means the video is being played on Path of the Acolyte mod, because those werewolves don't really look all that threatening.
Sony: European PS3 sales surpass 360's
The Sony PR machine just got its oil changed, is fully lubed and ready to fight. We know this because at their recent Playstation Day press event (which, we must admit, did bring some amount of good) we learn that Playstation 3 sales in Europe have surpassed Xbox 360 sales in the region ... or so says Sony. Seeing that Sony is a tad bit bias with their calculations (and we don't even get a pretty bar chart or anything), we can't be sure how much validity there is to their European PS3 number touting. But one thing we can be sure of is that Europe is a cut-throat console market where Microsoft and Sony are currently fighting to the death. Now let's wait and see if MS's PR machine is equally primed for battle ...MS denies those pesky Blu-ray rumors yet again
We've officially lost count of how many times Microsoft has denied rumors of an upcoming Xbox 360 equipped with Blu-ray ... we only have so many fingers and toes. And so comes another denial hot on the heels of the recent Blu-ray rumor, where Microsoft told GamePro that they "have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360". There you have it, said as black and white as humanly possible. But don't worry fanboys, we'll still report on every Blu-ray / Xbox 360 rumor we come across, not only because we feel obligated to keep you informed, but because we also enjoy annoying the pants off Microsoft. Yes, we're evil ...
