I will be! Finally! While I love the actual board games as DATZ up above, it is nice to have people to play with whenever you want and the ability to play with family who are 4.5 hours away is a nice bonus.
Now if only someone would clarify if 2 plays can play online from the same console.. one as a guest.

I don't see why not. The answer is "probably". We shall see.

Oh, wait. I can see why not - cheating.
People can abuse it by having one "real" player and one "dummy" player who helps the other player.
So, probably not.

I'm not entirely sure how you could really help the other player though. At least to the extent that they don't include this feature in "player" matches... I'm looking for confirmation though, not a "probably" as I knew that already. Thanks though.

They're helping you. They use their tiles to help YOUR pieces.

Catan local would be impossible.

Carc local multiplayer should be completely possible and I would be surprised if they didn't include it. There is nothing that is hidden from other players like Catan.
I'll definitely be getting the game with the hope that they release the Traders/Builders and Inns/Cathedrals expansions. I can't imagine playing without those two expansions anymore.
Until then I can keep getting my Carc fix on bretspiel.

AWESOME! I'm getting this as soon as it comes out. I love this. It's 800 points and it has the Rivers expansion... niiiice. Also, 4 player local is gonna be a REAL treat. XBox Live is nice and all but sometimes it's fun to sit down and play with other in the same room.

Awesome, I loved Catan but it really needed local play. It could have been implemented by making the cards hidden in local play unless you hold down a button, so you just walk up to your TV, put your hands around your hidden cards and press the button if you don't trust your friends in the room. Yeah it's not ideal but it's still less work to play than the board game would be! and cheaper!
But yes this game has local play, according to http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/c/carcassonnexboxlivearcade/default.htm
