It happens to the best of them, each curvacious white box having so much potential and so much to offer in its lifetime. But sometimes their life is tragically cut short for no particular reason, especially those first pioneers. IGN recently had to say goodbye to their broken Xbox 360 (a 2005 version at that) and chronicled the emotional journey they faced. A poem was written, the processed was journaled, and the cardboard coffin box came in the mail. And leave it to IGN to write a full review of the official coffin of the 360 ... you know, just in case you have to go through the process. We send IGN our prayers in hopes that they come to peace with the loss and accept a new Xbox 360 member into their gaming family.[Thanks, Jonah]

sh*t froze on me during a game of rainbow six, rebooted and got the rings. I called them this morning and get some schmuck that didn’t know a damn thing. he tells me to call back cus microsoft was having problems. i call back. this time some chick is helping me out and played it off like she really gave a f*ck, instead she pulls the same sh*t and says to call back in an hour or 2. at this point i’m pissed and confused. I just called them again before midnight was told to hold for the hardware department. i get through and this broad puts me on hold. after about 15 minutes on hold she comes back and tells me to call back in an hour or 2………..when the phones are off! what a stupid f*cking group of assholes! seems like these f*cks don’t give a f*ck about you and your 360, they just dont wanna be the one to deal with a disgruntled customer. this sh*t really pisses me off!!!!!!

If you spoke to them the way you posted your above note, I wouldn't have helped you either.
Calm down before you stroke out.

Forceusr.....you're a moron.
i was a complete gentleman with each and every one of the agents "max" put me through to, even the dumb b*tch that told me that a service rep would call me within 72 hours to clear it up.
I'm just pissed that it's taking such a long time to get this done....i mean c'mon, they haven't even been able to get a "coffin" sent out to me yet.

SKEZO's having a bad day. I guess I'd be peeved if my 360 bricked and MS was slow to get me a replacement.
Still, 'ZO, you really should...calm down. O_o

Skezo - Wow. When someone says something you disagree with , you call them a name. What a big man you are. Your "entitlement" attitude is as depressing as your behavior in a public forum. I shudder to think that you'll one day become an adult, at least chronologically, (I'm guessing you're an adolescent, from your behavior) and at some point in the future, may actually be able to make decisions that affect other people's lives. Grow up.

My launch console, the box I waited in line 15 hours for, is still alive. No problems, there.
I play it nearly everyday. I finally bought a big hdtv for myself, and threw out my old tv and monitor.
What more can I ask for?

After Three Days Of Waiting I Got My Box Or "Coffin" Last Wednesday And Sent It To TX With No Problems I Don't Know Why People Are Having Problems Getting One It's Easy To Do You Just Have To Be Nice And Not Be An ASSHOLE With The Agents

Be nice to the agents; don't talk to them like they don't know a frackin’ thing. Be patient with them because they deal with hundreds of adolescent jerks every hour. Talk to them like you would want to be talked to if the situation were reversed. Oh, and things do go down for maintaince. I personally know; I sent a fax for 3 days before they received it (the Fax machine was broke). I’ve also been patiently waiting for a MS point refund for when I exchanged my console…I have been waiting now for 4 weeks. A new Agent didn’t escalate my call when he was supposed to; so when I called to check on the status, the new agent I talked to and his supervisor escalated it properly. Moral of the story is: Be Nice as well as patient with the Agents and you will earn RESPECT with Microsoft.

Mine just died Thursday as well. I called customer service for Microsoft and there were extremely helpful. I spoke to some guy, he processed my order within a minute or so but I had to call back in an hour because their systems were updating. He then gave me a reference number, I called back in an hour and gave the number to a nice girl who took a few seconds to give me my new reference number for tracking. Total time on the phone was probably 6 or 7 minutes. Overall an excellent experience with customer service. I hope to have my new 360 by the time Crackdown comes out.

I doubt SKEZO could be a gentleman. My guess is he, like many that complain, try to toss around some magical tough guy weight on the phone.
Mine took less than two weeks to arrive back, and that is including two holidays (Christmas and New Years). I never got never complained about Microsoft to them (As it wasn't the CSR rep's fault the console), never demanded any free items, or threaten to alert the media to "the scam"
As someone who has worked years in the service industry, you'll get what you want quicker if you don't behave like a total SKEZ-douche.

So, not only are you immature, you're homophobic too? Or, maybe you're just unable to participate in a discussion with others without resorting to name calling. Congratulations, you've also managed to use a slur that a large number of people find extremely offensive too. Good show. With each successive post, you show what a waste of carbon you truly are. Can't wait to see what you post next!

"you just have to take care of your hardware."
That's really naive to say. I can't say I'm innocent, because I praised that my launch console worked for over a year. It was in the open, dusted regularly, hooked to UPS, power supply off the floor; everything I was supposed to do. It died in December for no reason, along with my room mate's who died about 2 hours later that night.
I've been through several PS2's that just got disc read errors, regardless of how often you clean them. Hell, my PS3 won't always launch Resistance, and it's only 2 weeks old. The disc is clean.
My Xboxes, Gamecube, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PS1, C64, Lynx, Gameboy, and whatever else I've been through never had any problems.
I have a Pontiac with 217k miles on it, and it runs like a champ with nothing but standard maintenance (dubbed: the GM miracle). I've had other cars that needed serious maintenance every 10k.
It happens, so think a little before knocking others down.

my sympathy for ign,,since i just ecountered the same problem,, i figured i was one of the lucky ones with a launch console that didn't break down, untill the other day. my screen froze the first time playing one of those burger king games, then it got worse, freezing on demos, arcade games, then in the dashboard, no red lights appear just the screen freezes and some lines appear vertically on the screen.
there is enough breathing room, and i've tried, without the hard drive installed, used a different gamer profile, and performed maintanance on the hard drive by clearing the cache. still freezes but doesn't show any red lights,,wtf???? micro$oft wants me to pay $168 bucks to get one of their defective launch consoles fixed! bullsh*t!!!

LETS ALL TALK ABOUT THE REAL ISSUE HERE. MICROSOFT RELEASED A DEVICE THAT CAN NOT SURVIVE IN THE REAL WORLD. THEY TESTED IT IN A "CLEAN ROOM". THE REAL WORLD IS A DANGEROUS PLACE THERE IS DUST, THERE IS SMOKE, IF THE PRODUCT THEY MAKE CAN NOT LAST IN THE REAL WORLD PEOPLE SHOULD BE PISSED. I AGREE TAKING IT OUT ON THE POOR PERSON MAKING PEANUTS AN HOUR IS NOT THE ANSWER. I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE WHO'S 360 HAVE GONE DOWN AND THEY HAVE HAD KNOW PROBLEM GETTING A REPLACEMENT, EXCEPT FOR THE WAIT TIME. MICROSOFT AS FAR AS I KNOW HAS BEEN REPLACING THEM FREE OF CHARGE, WHY BECAUSE SO MANY HAVE GONE DOWN THAT IF EVERYONE WHO HAD ONE GO DOWN GOT TOGETHER THEY COULD HAVE ONE HELL OF A LAWSUIT. MICROSOFT KNOWS THEY PUT OUT A SUBSTANDARD PRODUCT AND HAVE KNOW CHOICE. IF MINE GOES DOWN I WILL ALSO BE ASKING FOR A CREDIT TO MY ON-LINE ACCOUNT FOR THE TWO WEEK IT TAKE TO GET THE REPACEMENT.
