Developer and Publisher Codemasters announced today that their new gen Rally racing game, Colin McRae: DIRT is on schedule for release towards the end of June. Filled to the brim with off-road, point-to-point, and Rally Cross events, with your standard set of 2WD, RWD, 4WD and Classic vehicles, you'll be well equipped to sling mud in the eyes of your opponents online. Complete with European, International and Global online championships, and a fancy new damage engine, this looks to be a promising summer for gearheads. Are you looking forward to powersliding through the mud to victory this June?

2. The game will have the usual boot-full of point-to-point races and plenty of off-road excursions, as well as new Rally Cross events.

4. I've never played this series before. Is it sim-style racing like Forza, or more along the lines of the PGR series?

At any rate, looks purdy.

5. I'm still pining for a Rallysport Challenge 3. Next to Halo that's been my absolute favorite series on the XBox.

Any info along the Rallysport lines?

7. EA owns Digital Illusions now. If you want Rallisport Challenge 3, it would either be published by EA, or it would be developed by someone else this time out.

I don't know if Microsoft or DICE owns the IP.

8. AT LAST!!! Colin McRae for the 360!

My favorite genre is these rally games and rally games are really missing from the 360 lineup... And Colin is THE game for this genre...! Its not too simulation and not too arcade, its in the middle, so its perfect for me. :)

Lets see if they meet the deadline.....;)

9. I've heard [source: OXM] you can have 100 person races, although not all on the same track. 100 people start in the same lobby and then everyone races in groups of 20 or so, then everyone goes back to lobby and can see where they ranked in the 100. Anyone else heard anything about this?

Wow, that was a lot of alliteration!

12. I've not played this one before. I've been a fan of the RalliSport games though. This game looks like it will be just as sweet.

13. I would also love Rallisport Challenge 3 but there is little hope of that happening.

Yes, MS does own the IP behind RSC3 (as it was part of their XSN Sports branding at MS Game Studios) but the team that built it was at D.I.C.E. Since then, EA bought D.I.C.E., dissolved the RSC team and assimilated them into the Battlefield team, all so that we can get more incremental Battlefield Sequels! Yay! (Can you hear the sarcasm dripping?)

Anyway...it's unlikely we'll ever see it happen. That said, anyone play both RSC3 and Colin McRae that can give an fair comparison? Gotta know whether I should give in to Colin McRae or even Sega Rally Revo.
