Shadowrun: CTF with a magical twist
GameTrailers snagged a couple of videos from Shadowrun at CES. Qualms about the graphics aside, the game looks like it could be a lot of fun. These two videos show off some of the magic used in the game, including the tree of life -- which heals anyone who stands under it, enemies included -- and the teleportation spell. We dig the radial selection menus, though it looks like the player in the video struggled with it a little. Also, the teleportation seems a little confusing, though it will probably make more sense when we're the ones behind the controller. Check out the video above and the other after the break and tell us what you think.
What do you think? Could this replace your current favorite? Would you consider it over Gears, knowing that Shadowrun will feature a party system?

If anything I'd buy it for the PC so I could have keyboard/mouse... but I don't even plan on doing that.

You should have no qualms about the graphics.

Why not? The environments are a bit barren, blocky and sterile... I'm part of that odd group of people who actually likes things to be aesthetically pleasing. Weird!
It hardly looks bad, but I'm hoping a bit more is added to it in the looks department before it comes out. From what I've read and seen about how it actually plays, however, I'm very interested in it.

I have not gotten to play it that much yet but so fat I think that it will be a solid shooter for the 360. The modes are fun and the strategies that you can use are very interesting. I can see that once you get a group of people together that have their strategies down pat, they will plow through newer players. Which it the biggest downfall of the game is that unless you can be matched with others of your skill level easy it might easily frustrate new players.

As long as there's an option to NOT play against pc owners I might be interested. I prefer a level playing ground.

The game looks like XBOX1 or PS2 graphics. For "next-gen" the graphics have to be incredible. The gameplay looks like it could be fun, but I just can't get into a game that doesn't look good.
@#8 - In an interview from the devs, they have been working on balancing keyboard+mouse to controller. In the play sessions they had people actually preffered the controller. In older shooter games the keyboard+mouse does give an advantage because you are doing things physically impossible(nobody turns that fast). But as cross platform gaming increases I think dev's will balance it more and be more realistic in how it performs. I watch my friends PC game and I laugh everytime at how fake the movements are.. PC gaming sucks..

No way I'd buy that. First, I hate FPS games, whether in PC or console. But worst, that doesn't look like a whole lotta fun for the RPG side of things. Give me Shadowrun on the Sega or even SNES first!

Hmmm, graphics HAVE to be "incredible"? I just don't get this attitude. I want great games that have interesting gameplay variables i.e things to do that come together to create something greater than the sum of the parts. Some aspects of the new consoles will enable this but mostly it's down to making the effort to design better games. If graphics aren't great I can forgive that if I'm having a good time.
I'm aware of the balancing in Shadowrun but if there's one platform that's been easy to hack it's Windows. I don't want to play against pc gamers, I really don't see the point.
