Yet more cinematic RPG goodness from the Tokyo Game Show, this time from the other Mistwalker game, Lost Odyssey. Lost Odyssey is a game about a man who has lived for over a thousand years. If this intro video is any indication, he apparently lived that long by kicking ass. Check out the video after the break. Be sure and watch the very end when the intro snaps right into real time play. Very slick.

It has good graphics.. but that's it. I didn't know people who liked playing these types of games bought 360s. You pick your attack and watch as your character animates.. over and over and over! Sweet game!

Also, the main character looks like a girl. Where are the badass master chief like main characters in japanese games?
Frank West is cool too, he's covered wars ya know.

The only people that have time to eat supersized mystery-porato fries while playing a videogame are the people who play boring turn based RPGS. They have all the time in the world while waiting for their turn to watch their character animate an attack.
In a fun, fast paced game like Halo you need to stay alert.
It's funny how your only retort was "You are an impatient fat American" though. (I'm Canadian)

"The turned based stuff is so absurdly boring"
It takes patience to play a turn play game. And judgin from what you said, you lack patience. Just like millions of kids with A.D.D. You americans...
It's a wonder how I only hear about this "A.D.D." in the U.S.
Go play your Halo while sitting on your fat ass, while eating your supersized mystery-potato fries. And please. Don't bother "talking" about how you should be exercising.
Or.
You can review the video at hand for what it is. GRAPHICS. they are good. period. No need to go into your preference in genre.
And get off your fat ass.

Oh jeezus, you make the MS fanboy in me cry.Remember, Halo junkies... you games will come. FPS is not an under-represented genre on the 360. RPGs, or specifically JRPGs are. The more they have, the more japanese will buy the console, the more japanese who buy 360s, the more variaty of games will hit the console, the more variaty, the more gamers buy it. NOT representing a genre is BAD for any console.
Lastly, I wanna know.. how did you reply to a comment that came after your own?

I certainly prefer Western RPGs, but Blue Dragon looks like a blast to play and I suppose Lost Odyssey will too, once they've implemented the whole battle system.

Wow. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Trusty Bell. After watching footage of these games all I can say is you’ve got to be kidding me. Here is an interesting piece of information for Japanese game developers: It is not the early 90’s any more, and the Xbox 360 isn’t a SNES. The Playstation 3 also is not a SNES. You people might be interested to know that rendering technology isn’t the only thing that changes from console to console, you can do stuff with game-play now that you couldn’t do in Dragon Warrior 1.
It’s not like western developers are much better (sense 97% of them are either MMORPGS or Diablo clones or massively multiplayer Diablo clones) , but at least there are a few studios like Bethesda and Bioware that are trying produce RPG gameplay that AT LEAST uses the system’s hardware for something other than prettier cut scenes.
But whatever. I guess that’s what the Japanese want. Time to select “Attack,” or in some cases “ATTK” from a menu in order to trigger mini cutscenes that include the shrill, high pitched screeches of your standard issue, non-customizable anime characters along with a whole lot of lens flares, glowing explosions, and negative (and sometimes positive) numbers popping out of things.
You can have physics, and procedurally generated worlds, but let’s just make another game that’s a great, big, enormous load of cut-scenes and canned, pre-defined, non-dynamic gameplay were you increase your various on-screen numbers and watch some interchangeable characters display their ability to constantly gasp, growl, clench their teeth, and generally fail to convey any emotions other than those of exaggerated anger/shock to the tune of a story about some standard issue anime people fighting against a standard issue corrupt world order that wants to do something utterly nebulous that you can bet either involves manna or some sort of futuristic, post apocalyptic version of manna.

unfit a little bitter are we?
what could you not finish FFVII or something?
but to his point the evolution of the Japanese RPG ended at the SNES.
guys like bioware are pushing rpgs in the direction they need to go, dyanmic dialog and branching storylines are awesome inovation which make the gamer always want to go back and replay the game to see every different outcome. KOTOR was so much fun to play for both light and dark. i mean the end of the dark side is awesome.
If the japanese devs could only combined then you have your happy medium.
