The lameness of most of the themes available on Marketplace (shift a color here, shift a color there) makes this sweet Blackbolt Superman Returns theme for the MC360 XBMC skin look that much cooler. Once again the hacking community puts the pros to shame. Put some effort in it Microsoft, especially if you're going to charge us for this stuff.

I liked this theme, but as I went to see how to install it to my 360.. I was mortified by...
"Mc360 is a GUI skin for XBMC, XBOX MEDIA CENTER is a homebrew application for a modded XBOX 1, it is in no way useable on an Xbox 360."
Wazzzzzaaaaa?!?!?

Although I don't support or encourage any type of hacking there's a good point to be made here concerning the quality of "themes" found on Marketplace. Swap a picture here, change the guide background here, etc. I want to see themes like this Superman theme for example. Something that changes the entire look, heck even the layout of some items? I know not all is possible on a limited amount of system resources reserved for the dash usage, but is a true change of theme too much to ask? How about sound effect packages to go along with the themes? Just a couple thoughts...

I just wanted to say that I totally agree with the 2nd comment, I am not a big fan of hacking but he's right!! If this could be done by a fan who has real talent why can't MS do something like it!! If they put some effort into these themes then maybe people would'nt complain so much about having to pay for them!!! I can only imagine how a Halo 3 or Gears if War theme from this person would look like? I would pay for that!!

I love Xbox Media Center, and not just for the awesome skins that outdo the 360. The networking and video streaming capabilities made it the centerpiece of my home theater setup. And ever since that mod-less installation guide popped up on the blogs, I've been installing it on all of my friends Xboxes as well.
Still, as cool as the MC360 skin looks, I still prefer the look and layout of the default skin.

I've been waiting for a really good Superman Returns theme, or SR gamer picture to appear on XBOX Live.
I got really excited when I saw that screenshot, too bad it can't be used on my 360 :(

ditto what jimjim said.
I've been wanting a Superman theme for my 360 and I was sure they would release one when the movie trailer hit. No joy.
Hopefully they'll drop somthing this fall when the game comes out.
I think that XBox 360 games should all come with themes and gamertags on the dvd. Maybe even free XBL Arcade games as a bonus. For 60$-70$ I want a little more than a PS2 game with better textures.

Where I agree that a lot of the skins are just change a color here or there, there are some popular themed ones that do make a difference. For example, take the Entourage one that, and I'm not sure if it still is, was for free. Now granted you have to be interested in Entourage, and I realize some aren't. Either way, they make a large difference by adding huge colored photos to each blade. It makes just as much difference as Superman up there. And I'm sure there are at least a few others that follow. The Entourage one hasn't been out as long as well. Which I think shows that they are starting to make an effort to change their usual form. But yes, it was neccessary for the change.
Oh, and I also want to add that most 360 games ARE NOT just PS2 games with better texture. There's a lot more to a lot of these games than that.

Actually, I'd be really interested to see a poll for peoples favorite themes on XBOX Live. Right now I'm using the Street Fighter one, and I'm not a huge fan of the colors but I don't want to spend money on guessing which theme might look good based on the title.
