During the past few months of Bungie Weekly Updates, team Bungie has openly talked about two of their new and yet to be released Halo 3 multiplayer maps, giving them the code names "Purple Reign" and "Moonbase Alpha". And ever since the Chill Out remake Cold Storage was announced this weekend, we've been wondering which of the two code named maps Cold Storage was. Well, now we know the truth. Cold Storage wasn't code named either "Purple Reign" or "Moonbase Alpha", it was never previously discussed by team Bungie and was actually code named "Smuggler". This code name name confirmation comes straight from Bungie's own Lukems who pretty much confirmed that team Bungie is working on at least three new Halo 3 maps (Cold Storage, "Purple Reign" and "Moonbase Alpha") while we were under the impression that only two were in development. Those sneaky foxes! If we had to guess, we'd say that we'll be seeing a Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack (catchy name, no?) release sometime this Fall, featuring three new maps and costing an oh so traditional 800 Microsoft points. Write that down kids, we won't be wrong ...

ugh. 3 new maps are not en event. Just release one at a time, and call it a gift since we're putting up with this glitchy game.

Release this fall? I was at MLG. Cold Storage is at least 98% done. MLG pros played on it for 10 minutes.
Seriously, it's all just for marketing effect... they are a vain company needing to make a big splash all the time... and they're losing their grip on the FPS player because they're so conservative and look-at-me with their DLC while other games keep coming up.
i'm sure they're saving these maps up for when gears of war 2 releases, so they can say, hey come back, etc.
bungie is great, but too predictable in some ways.

A lot of people are speculating that this year Bungie will give away one of the new maps (most likely Cold Storage) for free on Bungie Day (July 7th). It happened in the past with Halo 2 and now people are predicting that it will happen again this year.
Let's hope these people are right.

That makes sense to me. If you read lukems forum posting closely you'll see that he neither confirms or denies that cold storage will be a part of the mythic map pack. I think we'll all be feeling a little chilly come 7/7.
Oh and smuggler was mentioned in 3 different weekly updates XD

12 maps for 250 points is better.
They seriously need to start making these maps free. I know it takes time to make them, but the marketing they get from this kind of stuff justifies it.
Plus, you can't tell me they can't find someone to sponsor them like Gears did.

For One map pack. The second Pack was for charge, and it was for shit.

And that One Map pack had two maps, as opposed to the second one (4). Though they eventually offered it for free also.
All you early adopters need to stop whining. Be it Eyefones, new Mapzz, or some other l33t shit, its gonna cost more if you're among first in line. Shoot, if you would have waited long enough , GoW plus all map packs, patches, blah blah blah is only 39.99 -coming soon enough.

Who wants to wait. Everyone buying Gears with all the extras for $40 will find nobody online to play with. That really makes the game valuable, doesn't it?

And hopefully when the mythic map pack releases the legandry one will become free like with the heroic map pack, because theres no way I'm paying 800 points for 2-3 maps...

Bungie needs to make Multiplayer with a bit more ppl I mean add 20 person multiplayer Bungie come on these new maps are fun but I never buy them I always wait until free.
Bungie needs 18-20 person multiplayer and big maps so we can play Big Team on more then just sandtrap and that other place.

I must say, you sure do sound like someone who plays Halo quite often. Tell me, have you ever even played BTB in Halo (any of them)? It doesn't work out very well. Halo was designed to be a 4v4 game and that's when it plays best, with 4v4. And they can't simply add more people to a game. It's hard coded into it that there can be 16 players (which, I might add, isn't much different than 18 or 20). So don't go whining for them to add more since I doubt it is even possible.

YES! Now I can get the Legendary pack for free. Finally.
I may even pony up for these as well, so I feel like I got half price on both map packs.

The Legendary Map pack is not going to be free with the release of this map pack.... And also I dont know why people are saying fall when there has been a 4 month wait between map packs... We should expect it in July or August

Yeah, but it will be free soon enough for me to give a damn. Which I don't.

Everyone thought Smuggler was going to be a Flood based MP-level based on Delta Halo. Now that weird cryptic message stuff is even more mysterious..

I'll be skipping all future map packs for Halo 3 until they either make a custom game server/browser or fix the DLC playlists...
Too few options and too few people in those playlists, makes playing the new maps much less enjoyable.
