As copies of GTAIV fly off retail shelves in what's nearly guaranteed to be an all-time video game sales record, Take-Two's CEO thinks analysts have underestimated GTAIV's sales.Take-Two's own Ben Feder talked to Reuters about their internal GTAIV sales estimates saying that "our expectations are very high, higher than analysts give the game credit for" and that "all the analysts had a (sales) number, give or take, and I think we will be on the upside of that rather than the downside." Lofty goals Mr. Feder, but we have a funny feeling your excessive optimism is actually warranted this time.

I'm sure sales would be higher in the UK if they had some goddamn copies to sell us!!!
The only way you could get one in my area was to preorder months ago or get to the store for midnight... I thought companies had sorted stock issues after Halo 3 released without a hitch.
Surely the stock issues are going to hurt their opening sales - whats the stock situation like in the US/other territories?

Teaches people to preorder then. It's hard to estimate demand if people don't preorder therefore they companies are less inclined to overstock a territory.

they will get the next shipment by the weekend.
your very problem is the reason for a tuesday launch. its just enough time for stores to get estimates and order new product for the weekend.

dang, at the Best Buy in L.A. there were four people there this morning to pick up their copy... and like a million on the shelf.

The jury is still out on the "all time sales record" given the fact that there was only a small line at many Wal-Mart's at midnight compared to other releases. It might also just be people know the game will easily be had the next day at there convenience.

GTA4 is having an amazing launch, but I'm pretty sure the "all time sales record" for a video game is still World of Warcraft's expansion The Burning Crusade.

Wasnt Halo 3 the all time best selling "anything" media?

I thought Halo 3 was the biggest selling in the first day, not the biggest selling of all time.

Yea I went out last night and there was maybe 15 people at gamestop. Frankly that's pathetic when I waited for Halo 3 there was at least 100 of us. Although, I'm still going to have to pick this up.

I pre-ordered my copy Friday and went to pick it up first thing today (special edition FTW!), so I'm very happy. Only another hour or two before I get to go home and start playing!
There were about 6-8 guys running in to grab their pre-ordered copies just in the three minutes I was at the store. They had at least a hundred copies on the shelf behind the customer service counter, so it's obvious that most people opted to just pick it up rather than wait in line at midnight. (Some of us have jobs and 'sponsibilities, y'know!)

From what I can tell on 360, they over estimated. I walked in Blockbuster after school, and they still had a ton of copies to buy/rent. Plus, there were only 20 friends online after school. There were 50 online for Halo 3.
