It's trying to get the former-Halo3-turned-CoD4 players back into the fold.

It would be nice if Reckon was available to all players in first place. We'd have a lot less hatress and account hacking.

How many people actually use Bungie Pro anyways? I don't use the movie/screenshot features since there really aren't that many moments in Halo worth capturing - a service like that is better for games like skate and Burnout Paradise.

there are lots of people on halo (including myself) who enjoy creating videos of their greatest kills or just funny things like glitches or really luck grenade shots. Just check out youtube for the amount of people making videos of halo moments.
Also, team SWAT as a permanant playlist, Awesome!

that's not really my point - are you going to actually create THAT many videos that you're going to need to get Bungie Pro?

What about people who consider themselves map builders. Bungie Pro isn't worthless to everyone like it may be to you.
But I agree with you that being able to go back after a game and capture video clips and screenshots should be implemented in every game (or at least burnout paradise).

The only thing is that they said that they "currently have no plans on making these maps free", so buy right away to get Bungie pro.

I was wondering if anyone else caught that part. I guess now that Bungie isn't MS, they would like to have a bit of a longer life for income from the Halo franchise...might as well. Other than the occasional "sale" (GRAW2 DLC currently 50% off), most DLC never goes free or changes in price. Might as well keep the money flowing since they don't make anything off of free map packs.
Doesn't matter to me anyway...even though I don't even play the game anymore, I'll download the new map pack. I like Bungie and they can has my monez!

If they become free I'll download then, but as for my MS Pointz, they went this month to Ikaruga.
As for my DLC map goodness, i'm still somewhere lurking in Chinatown and can't be bothered...

although noone ever checks my bungie file share thing and i rarely put stuff up this is cool. kinda giving back instead of just saying here just download the maps give us your money and shut it. bungie's much more fan based than activision. or any other gaming company i can think of.

I think they should have had a special helmet for those who buy the DLC Map Packs.

I love it when developers give back to the community. I won't be puchasing the map packs due to Xbox Live Gold, or lack there of, but this is still a nice gesture. Good on ya Bungie!

If I get on Halo 3, and play it with my better XBL friends, I end up going into the theatre a few times in a night. There are lots of moments in Halo worth capturing.

Yeah, that sounded like an ignorant statement from a certain-other-game fanboy, or something. Just watching previews of the new maps, I saw tons of "oh shit, awesome!" moments.
I think it's silly to think otherwise, especially when contemplating similar oh-shit moments in other games. Everything is subtle, if only by color and modern design.
On the other hand, Halo has a lot of big things happening with tons of visually-signaled close calls. Rockets, spartan lasers, and sniper trails, for instance. Or giant glowing sticky grenades. Or huge vehicles careening just over your head. Bubble shields creating dramatic near-misses. And don't forget the ragdoll on top of that.
You don't see that in other comparable games, really. Videos more often than not will just be killing sprees as what can really happen outside of that?
But eh, eh. I haven't played either game in awhile, just thinking about it.
