X3F TV -- Points>Life: Hungry? It's the Famine Skull!
Each week, X3F tips gamers to the tricks of the trade of Achievement hording in Points>Life. Every week a new achievement is unlocked to help you continue your unhealthy obsession with the Xbox 360 meta-game.
We heard the screams and the cheers. While the community seemed to enjoy last week's inaugural episode of Points>Life we were begged to make sure the entire segment didn't become saturated with Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 achievement tips. With that in mind we bring you this tip from Halo 3!
The majority of hardcore achievement fiends have already mastered the 1000 in Halo 3, but for those of you looking to unlock some new armor we bring you the easiest way to grab the Famine skull on the mission, The Ark. Check out this week's Points>Life feature and rest assured, next week will not have anything to do with Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3. We promise!

I like what you guys are doing here.
I think a game like Crackdown would be a good one to feature. There are many interesting cheevos.
Hitman is another good one, because many of the cheevos are secret. The redemption or 47 kill cheevo would be good.

OK - I'll admit right away that I'm some kind of noob for asking this - but what the heck is a grenade jump?

Freakin' n00b! haha! ;)
You can toss a grenade on the ground, then run over it and jump. The blast will propel you further than you normally could jump. It's a must for this cheevo, unless you use the mobile cover (which I've never seen before, nice one).
You also have to time the grenade jump right, because it could kill you.

OK Jimmy, a grenade jump is when you throw a grenade at the floor and then jump over it, so when you're in the air above the grenade it detonates propelling you into the air higher and for longer. This enables you to jump to previously unreachable areas. However I wouldn't advise using this trick in multiplayer since it takes your shield right down. Hope that helped!

I used the two motorcycles to get the skull, i had the deployable cover but i put it in the wrong spot so i couldnt grab the skull with my jump.
As far as grenade jumping, that implies throwing a grenade (Or rocket) in front of you so that when you land on it you simultaneously jump while it explodes giving you a boost in your jump.

You guys not using "Vimeo" for your embedded videos anymore?
Great segment... had I known about that deployable cover trick I could have saved about 20 minutes of frustrating mis-timed grenade jumps before I FINALLY snagged this skull.

I personally, in Co-Op, used a friend's head to stand on , then jump off of. This way you can start from any point, and its anywhere from half as much to a quarter as much work for all 2 to 4 people in your co-op group.

I think this segment you guys are doing is awesome. I am on this site everyday.
I was a lucky little gamer when I found this skull I made the grenade jump on the first try... The game you should look at next is Bioshock... I just started playing it and I love it... right after Halo3.
Good job guys keep it coming.
With Halo 3 ... for me at least... some tips on beating tought spots for Legendary would be my request.
