A followup to last week's Wal-mart video game pre-order deal that allowed customers to pre-order upcoming 360 games for $20-$40 off retail. As we somewhat expected, the pricing for the game pre-orders was an error on Wal-marts behalf and not a day or two later they canceled EVERY order that included the cheap pre-orders stating it was an error on their behalf and that they were sorry, blah, blah, blah. So, this week, customers who felt their order shouldn't have been canceled must have sent out a barrage of complaints to Wal-mart, because Wal-mart actually made "right". Last night, Wal-mart sent out an email to EVERY customer who ordered one of the cheap pre-order games last week, apologizing for the inconvenience and offered up a $10 Walmart.com gift card. You know, as a "we fudged up, now leave us alone angry gamers" gift of peace. $10 gift card, nice!
Good job with the complaining fellow gamers and a good job goes to Wal-mart for admitting to their mistake and making an effort to clear things over. Next time, we won't be as forgiving ...

I'll happily take the $10, but how could they make such a huge mistake? It would be one thing if it was one game that was mispriced (like the whole Rock Band thing at Best Buy). However, it seemed like there were a good number of games that were discounted.

not only is it a $10 gift card, but it is actually a wal-mart gift card, which means you have to use it at wal-mart, and, now Wal-Mart is going to make more money.
By reading the title, I was under the impression that wal-mart would bend over and take the loss and fulfill the orders...besides, it would be pennies to them
I'm not anit-walmart, it's just $10 don't cut it.

That's true, that $10 that you have to spend at their store probably only ends up costing them $2 to $6 depending on the item.

Not to mention who is just going to spend ten dollars, they stand to make a ton off of this.

Damn you are all crybabies. They gave us $10 for the error, now you can still buy the game you wanted for $10 less then they are supposed to be selling it for. In other words, they came to the middle ground - so should you.

what strange is wal mart is a smaller company then microsoft yet they give out $10 dollers and microsoft give a boring game that equals $10 dollers and this being a smaller thing then the Xbox live down time i think microsoft should do alot more then just a free arcade game.. and what about the people who already bought it? do they get their points back.. just seems pointless offering a free arcade game why not bring out something else for free

thats great and all cause i guess "legally" they are not obligated to do anything, but all things considered, $20-40 never equals $10

Actually gift cards are cash cows.
9 out of 10 times you'll end up spending a couple bucks over the giftcard.... If somebody else bought you the card, and you don't spend it all, thats a couple extra bucks in the store's pockets. Obviously nobody spent money to buy these cards, but I'd be willing to assume that all these people will use this card towards the game the initially wanted to purchase. So, wham. Wal-mart makes $50 bucks that would have otherwise been spent at gamestop or target or whatever.

I will check Walmart regularly now to see if they F-up again and I will pre-order a game and they will say sorry and offer a $10 gift card. 10 bucks is better then nothing.

Im not sure how things go with online pricing, but i do know that in acutally Wal-Mart stores if a product is priced wrong they have to give it to you for that price. I remember reading on X3F that certain wal-marts had the 120 gig HD priced at 89.99 by mistake, gotta honor it.

The major difference is that these were pre-orders. I believe if it was on order for and in-stock product walmart would honor the price per their policy. There is an exception for pre-orders in the policy. I think this may have been in one of the previous post (maybe comments) here or wii fanboy.
Walmart cancels $20 SSB:B :(
SSB:B delayed further :'(
