Joystiq got a chance to try out Ace Combat 6 at E3 last week, and they came away impressed. Of particular note are the game's incredible graphics. According to Joystiq, the earth below is damned near photo-realistic. Even individual buildings are actually rendered. Furthermore, the gameplay proves to be intense, with midair skirmishes occurring all throughout the open skies. Ground and naval combat come into play as well, and players have some control over that as well, being able to command allies to target certain enemies. Yup, not much bad to say about Ace Combat 6 at all. Check out the game's jaw dropping graphics in the gallery below. Better yet, check out the demo on Xbox Live.

This game is so beautiful. The Demo is sick graphically. Classic Ace Combat gameplay. I personally love it ( I know some don't since its about a much a sim as Burnout is a true racing sim).

I agree, #2, the dialogue is lame. Plus, everyone is yelling everything. I don't think fighter pilots scream at each other constantly like that.

it better sell or it will go multiplat. i feel that MS bought this one to get some fans from the PS2 but i dont think it will work it feels like a timed exclusive these guys wouldnt completely turn on there fan (but you never know, team ninja did it to xbox fans DOA5 is gonna be a PS3 exclusive). kind of like how saints row was gonna be ported to the PS3(OOO YOU DIDNT KNOW) but the dev thought it was just 2 late and stopped it but saints row 2 is a different story.

I havent played an AC since the Dreamcast and was blown away by the demo for 6. I try to limit my purchases to RPG's and long FPS's (only renting racers and fighters) but Ill be buying this for sure. I love AC and getting to play multiplayer co-op or dogfighting over Live seals the deal for me. Split screen barrel rolls make me nausious. This demo is how Ive been passing the time until Two Worlds.

I wasn't planning on playing this game at all, 'cos I'm not a fan of air combat sims... but I think I just changed my mind.

1.GFX are top notch. And iam sure theyll get better with the full version is released.
2.Gameplay was good (but the yellign got a little bothersome)
3.Still have to figure out how to determine whose an allie and whose not.
i think in the hour i spent playign it i shot down ONE FREAKIN plane. And crashed into the ground and buildings like 100 times.
Overall its a good game thatll be even better when you get the proper controller.

This game is undeniably gorgeous, and I really WANT to like it, but the demo just didn't thrill me, gameplay-wise. It seemed like the game pretty much consisted of tapping the target button until I found an enemy I could close with, shooting a missile or two until they exploded, and diving whenever the enemy got a lock on me. Also, there seemed to be an AWFUL lot of enemy fighters, and locking and firing got pretty repetetive. I hope the game itself has a little more to it.

I would like to try this. There doesn't seem to be much else in the spectrum of casual flight sims. And online play would probably be a hoot.

i've been a fan of the series for a while. more so for the gameplay and of course the graphics. but what most reviewers fail to mention is the hokey dialogue in these games. i'm sure that anyone who tried the demo got a taste of it, the line was something like 'may the sun gods shine upon us!!' before they enter into battle...you're gonna get alot of that.
