Command & Conquer 3: the documentary?

It's becoming common practice for developers and publishers to document the creative process behind creating videogames. Command & Conquer presents an interesting take on game design, using real actors instead of digital ones to tall its story. There is a new documentary describing the casting and filming process for Command & Conquer 3 available on Xbox Live Marketplace (also handily embedded at the top of this post). Of course, it also has geekily satisfying doses of Michael "Sam Fisher" Ironside and Billy Dee "Lando Calrissian" Williams. Check out the documentary and tell us what you think.

Do you like C&C's use of real actors, or do you prefer digital actors?

I need more Michael Ironside like Walken needs cowbell. I'll take him whatever way I can get him. I have a DISEASE, and the only CURE, is a short, bald Canadian, who sounds like he gargles with GRAVEL, and whiskey.

Oh God... Based on the demo it reminds me of Return to Zork cinamatics. I like the actors, big fan of House and Battlestar Galactica, and of course Lost, but the cutscenes from the demo seriously suck worse than an indy film created by recent film-school graduates.

C&C3's video performances look so bad they make cheesy FMV games of olden days in comparison from the likes of companies like Digital Pictures or American Laser Games look fantastic. Overproduced, corny beyond belief ... and I can only wonder if its to blame on the people behind the camera or just actors lost in unfamiliar territory with nothing to work with.

Whatever happened to simple ... bordering on cheap, but effective FMV sequences a la original C&C? It's the only title in the series I've played. Did the video segments get slowly worse with each title or what?

In any case, I'm eager to check out this title when it hits the 360, but the video segments are obviously going to be saved as a whole by Joe Kuran's return as Kane. I don't know what they had to pay him to come back, but from what I've seen of Lando and Sam Fisher whatever they paid him was worth it.
