The marketing machine is shifting into first gear this August with the release of a Halo 3 branded Mountain Dew called Game Fuel. Advertising Age dug up some news on this "limited edition" drink, finding that its Brute plasma rifle red contents are packed with more caffeine than regular Dew to keep you awake during those long gaming sessions. This supposedly cherry citrus Halo 3 Mountain Dew will only be available for three months, so stock up when August comes around.
Update 1: Check out more Halo 3 Dew photos over at Lamma's Game Console forums.

I think that tells you something about a release date.

Yup, it would make much more sense for them to run this promotion when the game actually ships. I think it's a pretty good indication that the game will come in September rather than November as some had speculated.

"Halo" Mountain Dew? Who's producing Halo 3, George Lucas?

Halo 3 dew in August -> Halo 3 in September, forcing holdouts to buy their first 360 -> GTA4 in October
When these new 360 owners realize their console can play GTA4, they'll get it... for their 360.
And the PS3 version won't sell as well as if Halo 3 had been released in November instead.

Here's hoping for a September release
It would really fit nicely around the other releases around the end of the year, and it also means Nintendo would practically be forced to release Metroid Prime 3 in August, so as not to suffer the poor sales of 2 (which were probably due to the fact that it was the same month as Halo 2)
But, whatever...

Hey, how about they ship it in may, but only for 3 weeks? that sounds like a great idea to me.
But seriously, considering how much halo is a hype machine, i wouldn't be surprised if the drink didn't ship til the end of august, and the game released in the begining november once the promotion ended.
