During the The Connected Home exhibition in London, Microsoft will be showing off their IPTV service for the Xbox 360. We've given you plenty of information to digest on the subject and after Ed Graczyk gives his keynote during the event in March, we'll probably have plenty more to talk about. The proposition of watching your favorite TV shows and still being connected to Live, with the ability to be in private chats or sending messages sounds very interesting. Depending how bandwidth heavy the service is, you might even be able to download content off of Marketplace at the same time. With a slated 2007 release on the service, we can't wait to hear more about it, and the event takes place between the 5th and 7th, so fortunately it won't have to be for long. Are you chomping at the bit for this, or is your 360 strictly a gaming device?
[Thanks, SeNiLe]

I would be interested to see if Att$t can engineer a service that is usable compaired to a normal cable system. I love HD and if they don't offer a crystal clear HD picture there is no way i would switch. I just wonder since i am in a bellsouth area how long it will take att@t to integrate their technology into a new network. But the IPTV thing seems like a good idea but i just don't see it all being very functional coming down the same pipe.

Depends on how the iptv service works, how much the xbox and the service costs. If I can eliminate my cable service with this & come out ahead & still able to watch/record my favorite shows, I'd probably do the upgrade. But that's a lot of ifs.

I already use my 360 as my cable box. I use a TV tuner, and run TV through Media Center. It works GREAT, and I cant WAIT till I can cut out the tuner card completely.

I guess if I can select what I want to watch and it's affordable to do so, I'd use it.
If someone else gets to limit what I can choose to watch, then it's no better than cable is now...

I just hooked up my 360 to Media Center in Vista Ultimate: outstanding! I didn't know what I was missing all of this time. This has so much potential, and if IPTV is as good as it appeared in January, I will definitely consider cutting the cord with cable, or at the very minimum, minimize my premium channels and digital package.

360 IPTV would be the only possible way for me to watch HDTV, so I'm all for it. I can't wait for the service.

It is great to see IPTV starting getting some momentum. This definitely great news for customers as this will offer more choices and put pressure on cable companies to lower their prices.
