If you played PC games during the 90s, chances are you've played X-Com. A memorable turn based strategy title, X-COM put players in control of an elite agency tasked with defending the planet from alien invaders. Players researched alien technology and built their arsenals to combat different types of enemies. All in all, X-COM earned a fond place in many gamers' memories. Potentially good news then, as Irrational Games, makers of the upcoming BioShock, may be working on a sequel. A client document from Irrational's law firm, Fierst, Pucci, & Kane LLP was discovered by Shacknews. The document in question lists X-Com among Irrational's games. Adding fuel to this fire is the fact that Irrational's Ken Levine himself has professed his love for the X-Com series and Take-Two (owner of Irrational) purchased the rights to the series in 2005.Should the rumor prove true, we can only hope that the imminent success of BioShock will convince Irrational Games to bring the game to the Xbox 360.

The original X-Com would make an excellent XBLA title...I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The original XCOM would be GREAT as an XBLA title! I hope they don't try and make a "new" X-COM and just stick to what makes the original such a classic.

Ditto... I'm playing an X-COM: UFO Defense game right now (not as I type, but you get the idea) and would love to see both a port and an update. There are bits and pieces I always wanted to see in terms of soldier movements and actions, alien movements and action, environments and overall game strategy that could provide plenty for Irrational to work on to make a game both faithful to the original and compelling as a new title

The first two X-COM games should be on XBLA for sure. That would rock so hard.
Actually, I'd rather have the first two ported to the DS. That stylus control would rule with an X-COM game.

The original X-Com is an amazing game. I bought the PS mouse just for this game. IMO, however, the series only went downhill from it's very high starting point. Hopefully they can return it to it's original glory. However, of late, the UFO-Aftermath (etc.) titles on the PC and Rebelstar Tactical Command on the GBA have been very nice spiritual successors.

So long as they return to the X-Com 1 and 2 style of game I'd definetely go out of my way to get this. If its anything like the newer ones... Fuck It!
