Hey guys,
I have a few questions and I'm sure you know the answers.
Will Super Street Fighter 2 HD be an XBLA game or a retail game?
Will co-op in Bionic Commando Rearmed be local or online?
Thanks,
Ben

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be an Xbox Live Arcade game. Street Fighter 4, on the other hand, is a retail title. You can actually score access to the SSFIITHDR online beta if you pick up a copy of Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 for XBLA. As for Bionic Commando Rearmed, the co-op is ofline only. Yes, it sucks. According to Capcom's Ben Judd, who we interviewed a while ago, the co-op was added late in the game's development. The dev team at GRIN thought co-op would be fun, and it was, so they added it. Unfortunately, the engine was already complete and adding net code was out of the picture.
On a side note, we were also asked about just when Rearmed will actually release (you may recall it was recently delayed). Alas, our crystal ball is no good at forseeing how long the certification process will be. Certification delays can take weeks or even months (see: Worms). We're hoping it's sooner rather than later.
Hey X3F,
I've been having a lot of trouble finding the Halo 3 McFarlane toys. I saw a ton of them when they launched, and they sold really fast, but no stores in my area got any more shipments. Also, none of the area Walmarts got any to begin with, and they were supposed to have exclusive figures. I live in the Cleveland area btw. Thanks!
Sgt Barone
We actually ran into the same problem. Our guess is that the figures are manufactured in limited quantities. Given that many of the series one figures are going for well above their retail price on Amazon, we'd say it's a pretty good guess. With series 2 coming fast -- July 6 according to Amazon -- we have some advice if you'd like to score your very own. One, if you're looking for one of the store exclusive figures, check the store early and often. You could also ask if / when your store expects them (we're not sure why your Wal-Marts didn't get them at all, though). Two, shop online. You should be able to get all of the figures other than the exclusive ones with no trouble. Hell, you can order them right now.

B) No. Even if we had the power to give it to you, no.

D) There hasn't been talk of a 360 port of Spore for quite some time. We know that way back in 2006 Spore maestro Will Wright said that he saw the game as a franchise and hoped it would arrive "across all platforms" eventually. Wii and DS versions have specifically been more or less confirmed by Wright, though nothing has been said of other potential versions of the game. While there's nothing more official to go on just yet, we'd say there's a high probability that some form of Spore will hit the 360 eventually. Spore is an EA game after all, and if it has the same impact as Wright's last game -- called The Sims, perhaps you've heard of it -- you can bet EA will leverage it on every piece of electronics with buttons and a screen.
Whats Up X3F
Great website always check it after work,
I want to ask you a question that is rumored alot about will Metal Gear Solid 4 ever go on the Xbox 360 i heard a rumor it would after like 12 months but i also heard Konami saying that it was hard to fit in a blue ray disc. Can't They just make it on 2 discs instead of one i hope you answer my question.
James
Gamer Tag: XxOCxSPYDAxX
Punctuation, James, punctuation! Yes, Metal Gear Solid 4 on the 360 is a rumor that just won't quit.
Long answer
There are a few reasons why it won't.
- The game is currently the reason to own a PS3, a fact of which Sony (and Konami) is very aware. Sony won't be too keen on losing its golden child, and we imagine Konami wants to stay in Sony's good graces too.
- The game was designed for the PS3 from the ground up and takes up a ton of space, more than will fit on a standard DVD. Any kind of port would call for some compromises.
- Konami has denied every rumor that the game is headed to 360 and has constantly reaffirmed that the title is PS3 only.
Short answer
Maybe someday. Definitely not soon.
That's it for this week, folks. Keep sending your questions to: ask [at] xbox360fanboy [dawt] com.

Noshino-
"There is also a motivation for staying exclusive...SELLING EXCLUSIVITY"
--Which makes you less money. That's not what development companies like Konami want to do. They want to make more money. Which is why the game will eventually go multi-conosle.
Look at Halo 2. A console exclusive that has made substantially less money than a game like GTA III which was multi-console.
"Exclusivity" may sell consoles, but if you're a game developer, it only limits your number of customers to the amount of console owners.
"GTA4 and multiplatform EA games are developed FROM THE GROUND UP to be multiplatform, MGS4 was developed as an exclusive PS3 title, and it takes advantage of many features that are only present on the PS3"
Plenty of games get developed for a console "from the ground up" and get ported over later. Look at all the Xbox 360 games that got ported over to PS3 (bioshock, ninja gaiden sigma), or at the ps2 games that got ported to xbox.
"From the ground up" for one console doesn't mean crap. Both versions usually use the same assets, so the developer just pays a team of coders for a few months and voila, there's your port.
"Im going to just stop arguing because it is clear that you don't know much about this game, there is much more content that is PS3 related, hence why I said that it was more than just porting the code. Kid, you should really inform yourself more about what you want to argue about if you don't want your own statements to come back and bite you in the ass..."
Again, I don't see how this stuff would stop a port from coming over. Just because the game has generations old clips of the earlier MGS games on Sony consoles doesn't mean jack squat. So long as the sony logo isn't in there, no big deal. If MS has a problem with Sony references, they would be edited out. Unless Sony pays them to stay exclusive, you can bet Konami wants to make that cash eventually. I know, I know, you think I'm full of crap, but did you even read the link I posted earlier where the freaking executive at Konami said that multi-platform was a possibility?

And you think it will be more financially feasible to build a game already made from ground up again just so that 360 owners can play it? Ya know what? Why should Konami spend money making that recreation for you if you're too lazy to go out and spend money buying a PS3 to play it? It costs a lot more building that 1 game for 360 then it does to buy a PS3 with the game.
Should have done what I did, bought both, that way you wouldn't be moaning about it now, and if you can't afford or don't want a PS3, what the heck do you care that its exclusive to PS3? Just get the next Gears and be happy already, it was your choice, not Konami's.
Note: I'm not speaking to you exclusively, I say 'you' and 'your', but I'm refering to all moaners alike. Thats not assuming you don't already own a PS3 and MGS4.

Oh, and to counter your Bioshock / Ninja Gaiden arguement, when did Bioshock release? When did Sigma release? How much was spent recreating those games? How many CDs did they use? In what way did they boast 360 exclusivity? By building the 360 MGS up from scratch, that means every little detail, even the clip of Snake holding a PS3 controller.
Why do you think those two are the only two that bothered to make a recreation? I'm even suprised a Bioshock is releasing for PS3. FF11 never saw PS3, Dead Rising never saw PS3, Lost Planet just about saw it but sucked as expected, it was rushed, Saints row never saw PS3, Smackdown 2007 never saw PS3.
What do you think all these games had in common?

Maverick man.
You got to understand.
Porting a game doesn't cost as much as creating it. Do you know how much money Konami would make if it came to 360?
Yes its a pain but when you brake it down it's not impossible. It can be done, people have done much harder things like "building an operating system".
I'm not arguing that it's coming because I don't know that, but as an amateur programmer I can tell you man, it can be done. It wouldn't be the first time and it wouldn't cost them even half of what it cost to build it. Yes certain words in some sentences would have to be changed and certain scenes recreated. How much do you think that costs? dude this game sell a million copies first week.
As a tech head, I don't see any processing or graphical limitations on 360 that would make the game IMPOSSIBLE (there are many games on 360 that perform and look as good if not better than MGS4 on 360). Yes the game installs on PS3 and it wouldn't be able to do so on 360 but games work fine that way too. (ie. GTA4)
Maverick, it's not impossible and it is profitable for Konami. The only reason this game wouldn't get ported is if Konami and Sony have agreed ($$) not because of tech issues.

Ysleiro, I'm not saying you're wrong here at all either, it could be coming over.
But think seriously about it, unless it does a Bioshock on us, I don't exactly see the point of Konami starting the project now, they could be moving onto other things. Disk space and finances are just two aspects. There is also reputation and quality to uphold, and then theres the question of who will port? Kojima? Really?
So whether or not Sony paid them or not, Konami have put themselves in a hard spot, even if they suddenly decide that the success they are having on PS3 isn't enough and decide to go multi, they would then look like complete pilocks for making boastful claims, AND THEN, even still, the game would have to be built from ground up, all those little jokes referring to the PS3, the adverts, the link with PSP, the sixxaxis use, EVERYTHING would have to be completely redone, thats not your average multiplat rebuild, you do realise MGS4 was built to utilse the PS3s capabilities alone, in order for it to even be half as good as it is now, the game would have to be redone for 360 completly, its not a simple proceedure at all, its not like DMC or COD or SC, its not like Bioshock or Ninja Gaiden, all those games can be easily ported, theres nothing in them really to hold the devs back, this is why a PS3 Bioshock can be built, most of the time was speant negotiating and thinking about it rather then working on it, and chances are it will still be around on time for there to be a Bioshock 2 release on PS3 as well. You really have to play and look at MGS4 to understand how much of a change they would have to make, thats even without paying anything yet, or even looking at the reputation they still have to hold.
I can't say PS3 owners are most pleased with Capcom, not for the fact that they are making games multiplat, but the fact they tell people, heck, they promise people one thing, then at the last moment change thier minds. Reminds me of Sony.

Agreed.
My friend made this comment once.
"The only reason we have exclusives is because of politics not technical limitations."
In other words, company A pays Company B and you got an exclusive, or Company A asks for an exclusive and Company B likes Company A so they do it without extra pay.

TBH, they would have to build this game up from scratch for 360, seeing as they haven't even started a 360 version yet. This will mean more moeny spent, theres no gaurantee it will be bug free or as good as the PS3 version which they want very much, but we all know what happened to MGS ports in the past ¬_¬
Personally, I think its better for Konami to shift thier funds and resources to making Zone of the Enders 3 like they promised and the next Castlevania, making another MGS4 would take agggeeess, when are we gunna see anything else by Konami if they waste time recreating a game they should have made alongside the PS3 version if they had any real intention.

Mgs4 coming to 360? Dont think so, with how much advertising of sony merchandise it has it, when the game installs a msg appears that states EXCLUSIVELY for the ps3 computer entertainment system, Sunny unpacking her psp and ps3, in the mission breifings you can actually watch her playing her psp and ps3, Naomi hunter and Vamp using sony ericsson mobile phones, Finally old snake controlling the Metal gear mk11 with a sixaxsis controller, so xbox 360 fans you want Mgs4 then buy a ps3 its the only system you can play it on im afraid.

I couldn't care less if MGS4 was to come out on 360.
But using product placement within a game as a reason that it would be impossible to port is a stupid one.
Small things like that could easily be changed to products like a 360, a Zune, a 360 Controller and any mobile phone that uses Windows Mobile.

lol, mgs4 comming to the 360 is something that would never happen. obviously for reasons in the article.
but since microsoft never included a bluray drive in the console, including one in a 360 now would hurt sales and it would cost too much money to manufactuer both bluray and standard dvds.
another mistake microsoft made was not including a hdd in every console package. a hdd is required for bluray games, and not everyone has a hdd so game sales could drop as well.
