The most popular trading card game ever is being brought to the 360 Arcade courtesy of Stainless Games (makers of Carmageddon) says a press release from Wizards of the Coast. Wizards, the company behind the long-running card game, will be seeing the game released on 360, PC, and Mac with no release date as of yet. The company did not go into the game's details, such as number of (and which specific) cards are included, or how they plan to accommodate players who've been playing Magic Online for years. Though there are no game details, there are a few things that can be inferred from the given conditions. One, appearing on XBLA, this game is likely to use some form of Live Vision Camera support. And two, this is XBLA, so it's going to have online multiplayer, leaderboards, etc.
Other than all that, everything important about this one is an unknown. More as it becomes available.

There was a Magic type of game release on the original Xbox as a disc based game that I thought would make a better Arcade release.
A game like Phantom Dust might have done very well on Arcade.

Maybe they'll incorperate the technology Sony showed off and make actual 3D monsters and card effects.

No. More. Camera. Gimmicks.
Seriously, people who want this kind of crap in their games are way too easily amuzed.

No man. It's a really good idea. I don't see why you have to hate against innovations on card games.

My middle school geekiness is very excited.
What I hope they do is a single player along the lines of Shandalar (some level of story for the single player campaign) and a multiplayer, both of which are based on the actual card game. @Larry, if I recall, the original Xbox game was like an action based thing and no where near the card game.
My friend and I were also trying to decide how they would do DLC for it. I was saying it could be fun if they do a random card packs thing for like 5 or 10 points, so you get some of the "Oh man, I hope I get a rare card in this pack" thing. But it has to be super cheap since you get no physical card. Or they could do DLC for new card types (like the New Edition cards or whatever they were called) and that gets added into the single player campaign so you can earn the cards or something.
Or, even better cuz this one would be free after you buy the game, your single player/multiplayer character earns money for wins or something, and you can buy random card packs from the in-game store. I like the idea of winning cards from battles and stuff, but some of the fun used to be buying a pack and hoping for a cool card in the pack.

It's not gonna be comparable to the actual game or MTG Online if you can't trade/buy/sell "cards" with other people.
