In an interview with Planet Gears of War, Mark Rein revealed that the first patch for Gears of War would be for "housekeeping" purposes and will make only small adjustments to the game itself -- including the announced fix for squished aspect ratios. Many had hoped that the patch would add the much discussed party system to the game, but it looks like that will have to wait for next year. And, according to Rein, the first patch might not make it out this year either. Apparently, Microsoft's certification department closes fairly early in December, and Epic is toiling to get the patch in as soon as possible. The interview also contains a few questions about the game's success and where it will move in future iterations, so Gears fans may want to give it a read. By far, the best answer in the interview was the last one made by CliffyB. When thanked for answering "stupid questions," Cliffy replies, "There are no stupid questions, only PR approved answers." Priceless.[Via DCEmu. Image via Planet Gears of War.]

What about the biggest bug with the online-multi-player? It sucks if you join a game that has already started and you can't communicate with your teamates, to me that has to be one of the highest priorities on their list.

I agree, the voice bug. there is also a bug where you can fall through the ground in fuel depot. I know how to do it and its very simple to get under the level and back up again.

let's face facts - this game is never going to be halo 2. it might have as many players right now, but in a month, people will be finishing up their dom achievements on co-op and will move on.
360 gamers are now and will continue to be stuck with subpar multiplayer games until Halo 3 comes out next November (or whenever Bungie says it's done).
the simple and unfortunate truth is that other than games like chromehounds, most developers don't give much attention to multiplayer.

JRock3x8 I'm not sure what you are talking about as far as subpar online play. Gears, Vegas, COD3 and the lost planet demo will keep me busy long thru the new year. Hell I have been playing more coop vegas and gears than anything else.

Definitly the voice bug is among the main things they should focus on! There are a couple map gliches that i would like to see fixed. Along with the "invonerability" you get when chainsawing/curb stomping someone. Nothing is more agrivating, than sitting with ur shotgun to the dudes back, point blank, watching ur teammate get slaughtered, and the dude get away without a scrach.
And the comment about Sub-par gaming? The game play experince i get from gears BLOWS halo out of the water!! Infact they arn't even on the same planet. Halo is such a typical FPS it kills me. Gears, not only being stylisticly MUCH cooler than Halo can ever hope to be, the game play is fresh, and offers gamers a unique style of gameplay Halo simply can't touch. Even when Halo3 eventually comes out, the GoW franchise is going to be a top contendor in the coming years.

JRock3x8-I think you are dead wrong in your assumption that GoW is not Halo2. Its better. Halo 2 despite immense sales and high popularity fell short on the expectations list and did not push new ground unlike its predecessor Halo. I for one am not anxiously waiting for Halo 3. GoW is a far better game due to its focus on team tactics and CYA(literally) warfare. What can we hope for that will be new in Halo 3? A new grenade? Rifle? oh wait wait, you can play as the brutes, yeah thats great. Stop the over hype on this game already.
