Here's yet another way to cool down that hunk of burning love lodged in your entertainment center. The Nyko Intercooler ($20 at GameStop) is a triple-fan solution that snaps cleanly to the back of the 360's case. It features a pass-through power supply that turns on and off with the console, so there are no extra switches or plugs to worry about. If homebrew water-cooling and re-purposed notebook fans don't float your boat, it might be the best way to keep your poorly ventilated 360 from cooking breakfast.
[Thanks Andrew]

Is this really necessary? The 360 already has 3 fans. 3 more would make it the louder than most people's vacuum cleaners.

although not needed (especially here in scotland, the general shitty weather would stop it getting remotely warm) this is the coolest lookin one yet

Pretty soon they are going to sell fan coolers. I mean come on people. I have had my 360 since december and it has never even got warm. These morons are probably sticking there freaking xbox 360 between the carpet and there space heater or something. It needs breathing room just like anything else. Mine sits on top of my home built PVR.

Although I don't need the cooling unit I'm probably still going to get it. I don't know about you but I like my electronics to run as cool as possible when I get the chance and also when it's being provided in a simple solution as this which doesn't require modification.
If any of you happen to remember the early Athlon processors or had one then you know that proper cooling was needed for those because when your computer got warm or the enviroment in which it was used got warm the performance started going to shit because of heat. I stuck two fans in my old pc and rigged up a vent system and it ran cool as hell without a hiccup.
I'm not saying that all of you need to get one, just that the cooler the 360 can run the better. Heat can also kill a console/pc before it's time (if it happens).

I don't care about more fans, I just want the thing to be quieter. The 360 is one loud beast.

I am going to buy one because i had some problems with my 360 overheating. Now i know people will say take better care of your stuff, stop trolling, whatever.
I have had my 360 from day one and i made special preparations to keep it cool. i set it up vertical with air on all sides (except the side that had to touch the ground). I put the power supply on a little stand relatively far from the console (again open on all sides).
My 360 worked fine until ghost recon came out. I played the game for about 15 minutes and i got the overheat message on the ring of light. I let the 360 cool for about 15 min and tried again. Same thing happened. Before this i thought the 360's that were overheating was operator error, but i was wrong.
My setup now includes the pelican fanstand on top of a very open milk crate. i bought another little fan to blow cool air over my power supply. problem solved for now- i have had no more overheat messages since, but i am worried for the summer (i live in NM, and it gets darn hot here).
sorry for the long post!
Cheers!

Why cooling? Thats not necessary. My 360 is cooler than my Xbox1. Its a rumor that Xbox360 are getting hot.

I think its ridiculous that we are having to buy things like this as a precaution for these consoles. If you have the console and powersupply out in the open, up off the carpet, and where it can get plenty of air this should be unnecessary.....but its not. I'm anxious to see how many more failures start cropping up when summertime hits. My system worked fine for 3 1/2 months then shot craps overnight then the replacement gave me a whole new set of issues in the first three hours of gaming. This is BS and these issues should be addressed ASAP.
NOTE: My system/powerbrick is out in the open and only gets warm to the touch at worst.

There are a certain number of units that freeze up when they get too hot. This is a problem with the unit. It happened to me. I sent the unit back to MS and they ended up sending me a new unit in return. Haven't had a problem since.
These companies selling these coolers specifically for the 360 are preying on people who have defective units that they don't want to bother fixing and people who have been tricked into thinking that their machine needs to be cooled because of bad console design or something.
If your machine is locking up or you are seeing the red ring of light, you should get it fixed before your warranty period expires. I bought mine in late December and the guy from MS told me my warranty was good till early June. I was without my 360 for about a week and a half.

This overheating issue is overratted & has gotten tired just like every other little bitch that tries to cry about it. Do u idiots honestly believe that MS would invest millions into this hardware and not take into account its cooling requirements? The guys that built this thing have a lot more education & experience in these things than most others, especially the dumbasses that keep saying the system was not properly designed. I'm certain that cooling system in the X360 is sufficient and these products r designed to pray on the ignorant fools. No matter what the product is, there will ALWAYS b defective units. If u'r system is acting up, stop being a fag & send it back 4 a replacement; problem solved.
My system worked like a jewel even after my guests and I had this thing running for 15 countinous hours. 15 HOURS STRAIGHT AND NO OVERHEATING!!! Imagine that.

actually, according to the instruction manual, the ring of light pattern that was showing for me was due to overheating, so please dont think i am lying or being an idiot.
As to why i do not want to send it back- my problem occurred one week before oblivion (the reason i bought the 360)was released. I was not about ready to lose time playing it while microsoft simply replaced my old unit with a new one. I will simply buy another when i get a chance and pull the old switcheroo (keeping my harddrive of course).
and to black guy- before GR:AW i played my 360 a crapload with no problems, but something weird just happened to my 360 at that point.
Cheers!

I think only launch consoles had this issue. My 360 was "born" in March and it blows out cool air from one side and has never been hotter than my gamecube. I think these companies making fans are going to end up with a load of unsellable units. There are only so many launch consoles out there.

When you put 2 XBOX 360 side by side. One with NYKO INTERCOOLER 360 and one without it, the one with the NYKO INTERCOOLER 360 is noticeable cooler. You can feel the difference with the paml of your hand. It is a product worth having if you want your xbox 360 to operate at a cooler temperature. Many people have multiple fans to keep their PC running cool and many people do not.
