Burnout CompUSA ad blunder

CompUSA ... what can we say about you and your business practices? You're such a silly company, especially when it comes to your marketing. Last week news broke that all of your CompUSA stores were closing and that you were liquidating all your merchandise because your financials weren't in order. And now we're coming to an understanding of why. It's because you spent your entire 2007 marketing budget on a Burnout Paradise in-game ad. The CompUSA billboard ad can be seen in the Paradise demo and everytime we drive by one we can't help but chuckle to ourselves. Maybe you should ask EA for some of your money back since your stores don't really exist anymore or at the very least get them to change the graphic to read something like "liquidation sale going on now!" Silly CompUSA.

This Thursday, Criterion will be releasing the Burnout Paradise demo to the masses (silver, you'll have to wait a week) and to get you ready they've posted a map preview of the city. Over on Criterion's website they've posted said map which is also viewable above and mention that the demo will include three stunt modes including the new Stunt Run. And of course, entry into each stunt mode will be seamless without loading screens. You know, because loading screens are so last week. Check out the map and get excited, only a few days left and then the Burnout Paradise demo will be here.

The Burnout Paradise demo is still several painfully long days away, but that doesn't mean we can't start having a little fun now. Enter the Burnout Paradise demo preview video. In the video, we learn many tantalizing facts about the upcoming demo. First and foremost, the demo contains three sections of Paradise City: Motor City, Big Surf Beach, and Ocean View. You're able to freely roam these areas to discover stunts and tricks and whatnot, but the best part of all is that the demo is Live enabled. Using a feature called "Easy Drive" you can invite friends to join your session without even leaving gameplay. In all honesty, the game looks hot to death, son.

Criterion Games has made it official fanboys, next week the XBLM will be getting a super hot Burnout Paradise demo (minus the game's sexy box art). Over on the homepage of Criterion's official website, they've posted a hip and trendy countdown clock that is counting down the seconds to the demo's release on Thursday, December 13th. Get your driving gloves out of storage, wax your controller and change the oil on your 360, because Paradise is near.

Clean and sexy Burnout Paradise box art

In this day and age it's something of a rarity to see clean, crisp box art for your favorite video games. By no means do we dislike our emotional Halo 3 box art or our super zoomed in PGR4 box art, but sometimes we want sleek and sexy with a dash of sophistication. And, odd as it may seem, EA is filling our crisp box art woes by offering up some rather enjoyable Burnout Paradise box art that's actually ... good. Check out the art, take in the elegant use of white, the perfect balance of vehicle outline mixed with serene reflected colors all perfectly placed on the game's (never, ever before seen in the Burnout franchise before) crash-less cover. It's lovely. Box art as well as some pretty concept art can be viewed in the gallery below, all of which should make you feel like you're in a clean, crisp box art paradise.

Ridiculously pretty Burnout Paradise footage

The Burnout series has always had a penchant for looking good. With that in mind, it looks like Burnout Paradise is set to raise the bar again. GameTrailers has posted a handful of new videos showing off some of the cars in the game, and it is hard not to be impressed by the visual fidelity presented here. Our only gripe, the stupid cars stay in one piece. Where's the crashing, damn it?! Ah, well, for now you'll have to be satisfied with death-defying jumps and traffic evasion. Someone owes us an explosion though.
