Online Head Scratching

A first for any Madden title, online leagues allow up to 31 players to compete in an online season. But some decisions made in the addition are already being lambasted. Firstly, the game does not allow any teams to be controlled by the CPU during the season, each league allows for a draft but the picks are selected at random based on a team's pre-draft ranking and by default the game does not track player statistics.

Early reports indicate that online play is relatively lag free but Madden fans are already asking for EA Sports to focus their first updates on patching issues found in the online leagues.

Considering the online leagues found in NCAA Football 09 are so fully featured it's disappointing Madden NFL 09 offers so little.
