Blue Dragon selling for $20

Mistwalker's first outing on the 360 wasn't exactly a break-out hit when it was released. Despite rumors of a sequel, it's not considered to be much of a success in the community. Now it's time to take advantage of that, considering that the game is actually pretty good if you can stand the pure Japan of the thing. Both Amazon and Toysrus had the game up for $19.99, but Amazon is currently sold out, so if you want a deal on a good JPRG you're going to have to make your purchase at Toysrus. And if you care to take a chance and hoof it on over to a brick and mortar Toysrus we hear that it's twenty percent off in-store.
(Oh, for any Canadian gamers out there, here ya go)

It's official, Canada sees another Xbox 360 price cut

Crazy, the FutureShop employee was actually telling us the truth as late last night, Microsoft announced that all of the Great White North (that's Canada) will see Xbox 360 price cuts effective immediately. The new console pricing will be dollar for dollar equal to the 360's price in the United States, with the Xbox 360 Pro dropping from $399 to $349, the Elite going from $499 to $449 and the Arcade sinking from $299 to $279. So, if you're Canadian and need another 360 or know someone who does, then jump in. There's no better time then now ... price cuts FTW!

Rumor: Canada getting a $50 Xbox 360 price drop

The rumorous crew over at Joystiq received an anonymous tip from a FutureShop employee who sent photographic proof of an upcoming Xbox 360 price drop starting this Friday.

The FutureShop employee got his hands on an upcoming sales ad that lists all Xbox 360 models at $50 cheaper than normal retail. So, that puts the Pro system at $349 and the Elite at $449. Now the only question is whether or not this $50 Canadian discount is a one week, FutureShop only sale or a Microsoft backed price cut for all of Canada. Maybe announced today at GDC? And a country wide price cut wouldn't be all that crazy, seeing that the U.S. dollar and Canadian dollar are nearly equal and a $50 price drop would make the console's price the same. If you're a Canadian in the market for an Xbox 360, you should definitely hold off until Friday. Hopefully we'll know more by then as a $50 savings is nothing to take lightly.

Canada experiences Inside Xbox awesomeness

Wowzaz! We didn't know non-U.S. fanboys had so much built up excitement for the Fall update enabled Inside Xbox dashboard feature. But, we guess when you don't have something your desire for it is amplified times sixteen. And that sort of excitement combustion just occurred yesterday when Microsoft officially launched Inside Xbox to Canadian Xbox Live subscribers. Yippy!

Previously, Inside Xbox was only available to a few countries including the U.S., but our fellow Canadian gamers couldn't partake in daily Inside Xbox fun. But all that has changed, as Canadian gamers should now be able to click on the Inside Xbox option right above the friends / messages button on the Xbox Live blade to watch Major's Minute, TriXie's Community Confidential and all the crew's bloopers as well. We're sure the Canadian Inside Xbox version will include the same weekly features as its U.S. cousin, but also incorporate exclusive news and events pertinent to Canadian Live members. Check it out, it's Inside Xbox Canadian bacon style.

Canada: Win $1,000 gift card for making friends

Xbox Canada is running a pretty sweet promotion right now in which Canadian gamers can win a $1,000 Best Buy gift card. The rules are pretty simple. First, Canadian gamers must download the special +15 gamerpic from Xbox Live Marketplace (it doesn't say you actually have to use it, just download it). Once that's done, you must add fifteen friends to your Xbox Live friends list (unless you already have at least that many). After that, play a game with any friend over Xbox Live and you'll be entered for a chance to win one of fifteen $1,000 Best Buy gift card. The official rules don't make it clear if every played game counts as an additional entry, but it couldn't hurt, right? The contest runs until January 30, so you'd best get cracking if you want your shot at winning.

Video Marketplace now in Canada and Europe

As announced last week, the switch has just been flipped for the Xbox Live Video Marketplace to go live in both Europe and Canada. W00t to that! Canada, Ireland, France, Germany and the UK all have access to the Video Marketplace where Live subscribers will be able to purchase movie rentals and other Video Marketplace goodness. Currently, there is only a limited number of movies available and no television content, but we expect that to change in the near future. Though, we don't expect the Canadian pricing to change anytime soon ... ouch. Anyhoo, welcome fellow Canadian and European fanboys, the Video Marketplace water is warm and welcoming.

Canadian Video Markeplace pricing unearthed

Microsoft's Canadian Xbox 360 guru, Jade, has unveiled some new details on the Canadian version of the the Xbox Live Video Marketplace launching next week. First, there will by 37 movies available at launch including films like 300, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Ocean's 13. As announced before, there will not be any television programming available, with no clear reason given as to why. Of course, the most important part is the price. For Library titles (read: old), standard definition runs 310 MS Points, while high definition movies will cost 460 MS Points. For Current titles (new releases), SD movies will cost 460 points and HD will cost 610 points. In other words, Canadians are paying significantly more than Americans, who pay 240 or 360 points for older films, and 360 or 480 for new releases. So, Canadians spend nearly $9 on an HD new release compared to $6 American. For what it's worth, Microsoft claims the prices are "comparable to what you see in Canada for other video on demand services."

Find a list of all movies that will be available at launch after the break.

Sorry, no XBVM for Europe or Canada on Tuesday

All the talk about the impending release of the Xbox Live Video Marketplace to Europe and Canada sort of made us think it would launch in cohesion with the Fall Update on Tuesday. It just seemed like a no brainer. But Microsoft decided to keep us in suspense for a bit longer, because there will be no European or Canadian Video Marketplace rollout next Tuesday. Joystiq confirmed the news with the super powers over at Microsoft HQ and they specifically denied a XBVM launch next Tuesday, but reiterated the fact that they're aiming for a Fall release. Hmm, Fall is running out Microsoft and we have plenty of proof of what's to come, so just give Europe and Canada their Video Marketplace love already. Jeez.

Canada gets 33 days of Halo 3

In an effort to keep Halo 3 on Canadian gamers' minds, Microsoft has just launched a new Halo 3 giveaway exclusively for Canada.

The 33 Days of Halo on Xbox Live giveaway will last for 33 days (uh, duh?) in which Canadian Xbox Live members can download one, two or three color coded gamer pictures to be entered into the contest. Each gamer picture relates to a certain task that must be completed within' 33 days and if completed, you'll be entered into that respective giveaway. So, there's a total of three different prize packages where one gamer who completed said task will walk away with the prize, ranging from a new 50" TV to a Volvo C30. If you're interested, like Halo 3, are Canadian or are simply confused, make the jump and get learned gooder and enter. Sometimes these contests are just too darn complicated ...

X07 still taking place in the Great White North, eh? [update 1]

Over on the Xbox Canada forums, there is a thread confirming that there will be an X07 Canada taking place this year, as opposed to its European brethren . Last year, X06 came to Canada for the first time, and was held in Toronto, Ontario, and was significantly smaller than the one in Barcelona, but it was nice to have some semblance of the event represented in North America. Unfortunately, there isn't any word of where or when it is taking place in the post, but it is said to be "invite only" this time around.

Update: Xbox Canada's Jade sent us a message saying the Canada has been having X0 events since 2002, and that X06 was the first time it was opened to the public, and was merely a media event up to that point.

Canada shares in 360 price drop love

Microsoft has officially announced that Canada will also be receiving 360 price cut in line with the cut announced for the United States. The Core and Premium consoles are both receiving a hefty cut of $100 while the Elite will drop by $50. That means our neighbors up north can pick up a Core for $299, a Premium for $399, or an Elite for $499. Meanwhile, the Halo 3 special edition 360 is set to debut in September at $449. Frankly, if someone was going to spring for the Halo 3 system, we don't see why they wouldn't just take the plunge and get an Elite. At any rate, the price cut will become official starting tomorrow. Any of our Canadian readers planning on picking one up?

Canadian 360 Elite preorders arrive

Our Canadian friends are now officially feeling the Xbox 360 Elite love, because they've become privileged enough to be able to preorder the black wonder. X3F reader Trevor sent word that both Canadian Best Buy and Future Shop stores are now taking online preorders for the 360 Elite. So, if you're Canadian and willing to throw down $549.99, simply make your way to their online stores and get your preorder on. Also note that in the US you can only preorder the Elite from Circuit City, because US Best Buy stores have yet to take the preorder plunge. As we always say, preorders for all fanboys everywhere (except Europe)!

Be sure to look at the schedule of events and locations to see if an event is nearby. Who says your March break can't be fun?

Future Shop wants Canadians to get 360s; Free gift card if out of stock

Future Shop, the Canadian equivalent to Best Buy (who actually purchased the franchise in 2001), promoted the Xbox 360 as a worthy next gen console in a recent "Ask the Expert" column. The article brings up various points about how the 360 stacks up to the competition, mentioning price, resolution and available titles. It's good that they're giving an honest look at the hardware. They finished up with the following:

"Even better, Future Shop guarantees that the Xbox 360 will always be in stock - or you'll receive a $30 Future Shop Gift Card - so you can join in the future of gaming anytime. "

So you fellow Canuck fanboys keep your eyes peeled next time you're at Future Shop, because you could snag a gift card that could go towards your next game.
