X3F Week in Review: October 17, 2008 - October 23, 2008

We've gone kind of Fable II crazy at X3F this week. We've got some special Fable II features, including a look at the game's environments as well as its enemies. We also dedicated this week's episode of the Xbox 360 Fancast to the game. Oh, and we're also giving away six copies of the game. You might want to get in on that.

X3F Week in Review: October 3, 2008 - October 9, 2008

We might as well face the fact that this week's biggest Xbox 360 news pretty much happened yesterday and this morning, so that's what you'll be finding in the news section below. We also have new installments in our community features, so be sure to check those out. Might we specifically recommend that you check out XBLA in Brief, as it can save you from the heinous mistake of even downloading the trial version of Beat'n Groovy.

X3F Week in Review: September 19, 2008 - September 25, 2008

We'd like to pretend this week isn't all about Bungie's teaser for a new Halo 3 campaign expansion. We'd like to tell you this week is really about things like our look at Duke Nukem 3D for XBLA or the fact that Peter Molyneux is already conducting the hype train to his next game. We'd love to say that, but it just isn't true. We love teh Halos and we love Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, so the week belongs to Bungie. This time ....

X3F Week in Review: September 12, 2008 - September 18, 2008

With the industry resting on the edge of the impending holiday, news seems to be a mix of rumors and (this week, at least) unexciting Xbox Live Arcade releases. Maybe everyone figures we deserve a little downtime before the real onslaught begins. During this quiet before the storm, we offer you the latest XBLA in Brief, which covers the sheer excitement of Feeding Frenzy 2 and Domino Master. Yeah, well, Duke Nukem 3D comes out next week, so have faith, mkay? IN the meantime, check out the latest news and community features below.

X3F Week in Review: August 22, 2008 - August 28, 2008

It's time for yet another X3F Week in Review, girls and boys. It's been a Silicon Knights week here at X3F, with our own Xav de Matos spending some quality time at the company's headquarters in Ontario. We've got tons of coverage from a Silicon Knights studio tour to an interview discussing the fate of Eternal Darkness. These have been floating around Joystiq for a few days, but if you haven't already, you should definitely check them out.

Finally, there's still a chance to win Castle Crashers if you hurry!

X3F Week in Review: August 8, 2008 - August 14, 2008

It really feels like this week belongs to Xbox Live Arcade. The whole month really, considering a slew of AAA titles are on the way. You can check out our latest XBLA in Brief episode to see what's new. And let's not forget that you can now start earning Fable II goodies with Fable II Pub Games, which is also featured in this week's episode.

E308: Rock Band 2

Rock Band will debut exclusively on 360 with 84 songs on the disc which are all original master recordings, including Bob Dylan, AC/DC, Megadeath, Modest Mouse, and way more than we could list here (we'll update when we can). Plus all the DLC from the first game will be compatible, and most of the tracks from Rock Band 1can be ripped from the disc, meaning no disc swapping. All in all, that means that when Rock Band 2 launches it will have over 500 available tracks.

E308: Guitar Hero: World Tour

Coming out swinging, the Guitar Hero segment claims 85+ tracks right on the disc. As for the downloadable content there'll be an REM track pack with 3 songs, plus the megaton news that Van Halen and the Eagles are exclusive to Guitar Hero, and that Metallica's newest album will hit on both the XBLM and retail at the same time. Plus they're launching something they're calling GH Tunes, which will allow for users to upload and share the music they've created with the in-game creator.

E308: Resident Evil 5, online co-op confirmed, Friday the 13th launch: March 2009

After the controversy surrounding the game, we weren't sure just how Resident Evil 5 would turn out. First and foremost, online co-op is not only confirmed, but is confirmed to play a large role. Chris Redfield, working for his new organization, the VSAA, now has help from a female companion; also, possibly in response to the criticism, the enemies are noticeably more "zombie-ish." While the gameplay demonstration was cut short, it was also revealed that the game is set for a 2009 release date, and on Friday the 13th no less.

E308: Fallout 3; including exclusive DLC for 360

Coming to us from the developers of Oblivion and Morrowind, Fallout 3 is the post-apocalyptic role playing game featuring the 1950's styled world and based on the classic PC series. After the preview in the press conference with it's faux "informational video" advertising Vault-tec Microsoft brought out Fallout 3 producer, Todd Howard, and he played the game live in front of the crowd. The newest trailer (shown to the crowd before the gameplay) will be on XBLM soon.

The demonstrated gameplay definitely shows off how far the Oblivion tech has come, showing of vehicles, robots, dismemberment and more. Also, Fallout 3 will have substantial exclusive DLC for 360 and GFW.

More Prince of Persia speedpaintings

Ubisoft has been a doing a pretty good job with the marketing of the new Prince of Persia game. It's not easy to build hype by slowly doling out new screens, info and more without revealing too much or over-promising. While that sometimes means that news of the game comes in some strange forms (like speed art) they're well done and provide some good background to the game and world the team is working on.

The above video is of an enemy called the hunter (not from Halo kids) and includes some interesting backstory too. A second speedpaint video embedded after the break is of the Prince's female companion, Elika.

New Banjo Kazooie videos and screens

After the Microsoft Gamers Day a while back, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts was seen by many in the community as too much of a departure from the older formula. The addition of vehicles, parts, and the creation of the former using the latter wasn't exactly traditional to the series' formula. Despite the fact that what we saw and played was fun, we can definitely say that the bits we had time with weren't exactly reminiscent of the N64 days.

Rare looks to have anticipated the outcry and saved much of the more traditional stuff for later reveal. IGN recently got some media out of Rare that seems designed just for that reveal, the first video introduces you to Showdown Town, the game hub, and where most of the more traditional platforming happens. The second video showcases Banjo Land and displays some of the vehicle creation and editing, as well as some of the quirky world exploration. Get watching!

By the way, listen closely around 4:00 into the first video for what could be a possible mention of a long rumored item.
