Our mother-ship (Joystiq) recently got some hands on time with the finished campaign build of Gears of War 2 and were told to get as far as they could. And after six hours of gaming, our Joystiq friends came away with of memories of curb-stomping Locusts, impressive destructible environments, COG journals, a much deeper storyline and plenty of non-stop action.
Their campaign impressions mirror that of what Epic has promised us all along, a bigger, deeper and more action packed sequel that delivers. All said, they were quite impressed with their Gears 2 hands-on session as we can only hope that next time, Epic decides to invite us over for a test run. Emergence day is coming, friends, be prepared.

I was wondering if there has been new information from those that have played on the water effects?
I remember seeing a tech demo long while back
but have not seen much of the new water physics. If they are anywhere near what I saw in the tech demo, I know this is not a major topic but will really add to the game I think.

Gears 2 will be amazing - the only thing i'm worried about is if they have 'truely' fixed the Host advantage issue.
thats the only problem really i had with Gears 1.

Just to add something from reading the article, in the 6 hours they played, they felt as though they got the story down and felt as though the campaign was ending soon. Meaning the campaign is a bit short (at about 7-8 hrs maybe) or there is some sort of surprise twist they did not get to yet that would extend the campaign. Sure, the multiplayer is gonna be many hours, but I still was/am hoping for a good, long campaign.

i'm actually enjoying the shorter more detailed campaigns these days. most games that add length often go for 'fetch quests' or repetition, i'd hate to go through a solid 6-7 hours then to prolong that with 1-2 hours of key finding.
CoD4 still remains my fav single player experience. and it was pretty short, but solid.

I played about a level of the single player campaign, and was throughly impressed with how refined and upgraded the physics engine and graphics engine was over the original. The game just seemed much faster and more crisp, less getting caught (and I played Gears extensively.)
Didn't see any water though.
As far as how long it is, Im guessing that GoW (the first installment) was about 7-8hrs single player on medium. Kinda falls in line with all the other MP dynamos (CoD4, H3, GoW.)
