This week's Bungie Weekly Update is an informative doosie, full of information regarding Halo 3 matchmaking changes, double EXP weekends, fileshare changes and a Bungie PRO video renderer. Wait, wah? Video renderer? Oh yes, children, a video renderer.
Team Bungie just announced that in the not too distant future, Bungie PRO subscribers (who pay 750 MS points a year) will have the ability to take their Halo 3 film clips and render them into WMV through Bungie.net. Wowza! Specifics including resolution, how it functions and its rollout haven't been announced yet, but keep your eyes peeled.
The other big news is next week's launch of an all new Bungie.net fileshare system that'll make tracking files easier, grouping content slicker and showing off your work much simpler. The implementation of tags, content grouping and Bungie cards is super sexy and are all changes we welcome with open arms. Make the jump to get learned and get prepared for next Bungie's Tokyo Game Show reveal next week. KEEP IT CLEAN!

Finally! A reason to subscribe to Bungie PRO! Let's hope they don't change prices.

Is the WMV DRM free? 750MS pts to move it from one locked-down format to another would be a bit extreme. Also, wmv sucks.

I find it weird that you used the exact same text as the guy down a little bit. Very weird. Almost like...you're getting paid for it...

I actually agree with the guy. And this is coming from a long time Halo fan. I actually just traded in my copy of Halo 3. The series is dead to me. Halo 1 and 2 are the only Halos as far as I'm concerned.

EXCELLENT NEWS! Ive been wondering why a video renderer has never been made, guess its taken awhile to make.
For those who think WMV sucks, that depends on how its encoded. WMV HD is excellent. Im sure Bungie wont be using HD, but it will be 10x better than the crappy Youtube quality people have to use now. Its a shame they are just getting around to release this, I havent played Halo 3 in ages.

The standard for HD video is already H.264, maybe AVC. WMV-HD simply isn't as good.

I just hope they make it free. I know it's impossible, but never say never right?

monkeymonkeymonkey -- Sorry, I didn't make my original comment clear. I actually did read it, and I realize that it's for PRO users, but I was just saying that I hope that at some point, Bungie makes this video rendering free. That's all. Sorry for the confusion.

Cod4 is my main game.
But the best feature out of any game this year was that replay function in halo3. I would spend more time watching those videos then playing the game. The fact that it was just text and only around 1mb, is an amazing achievement.
Wish Inifinity ward could adopt that, or every game for that matter.
