We contacted Xbox Live's Major Nelson (aka Larry Hryb) regarding some of the issues a few of our readers have reported, today. Major told us the Xbox Live technical staff have fixed the issues Live was experiencing on Tuesday and nearly all problems have been resolved in relation to the service. According to Major and the Xbox.com support page some users may experience problems browsing the Video Marketplace but the team hopes to resolve the problem very soon.
We take the question back to the streets. How is Xbox Live performing for you as of right now?

I wouldn't mind all these problems with XBL if we didn't have to through it again when the new update comes out.

We don't. They will not need to take xbox live down anymore.
They will just simply issue the update.

Where's the "who the F wants to be playing online with a bunch of 12 year olds anyway?" option?
No problems here because I don't play online.

Turn off the mic.
The best solution would be to kick them off, but I don't have that kind of power..... yet.

There is an option to mute everyone who is not on your friends list. You do have friends, don't you?

if you download something from xbox live, the next time you turn on your 360 the xbox will freeze as soon as it tries to login in to xbox live.

Do you find that?
My friend has just contacted me asking about it, (I haven't experienced it myself). Have you found a fix at all..?

Sorry, yes there is a fix. Unplug your ethernet cord, turn on your xbox and go to the harddrive, delete whatever you were downloading, and then plug your ethernet cord back in and sign in. Just make sure to cancel whatever you were downloading...cause it'll restart and you'll have the same exact problem the next time you go to turn on your 360.

Does it freeze if you finished downloading the content or only if it was partially finished?

I finished downloading stuff, turned off, then back on and signed in with no problems. Either it is caused I finished, I am lucky or something else is going on, but good luck getting that to work. You know I always hear of people's xboxes bricking whenever they release an update, but it seems to always be sporadic and for unknown reasons why some do and others don't. Who knows.

Actually happened to me last night but my experience was a bit different. My Xbox is configured not to sign in my profile automatically, so it would power on fine and would only lock up when I tried to sign in. Funny thing was though, my son's profile signed in just fine.
I had downloaded Mega Man 9 and it was listed in the storage device with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on it, indicating the file was corrupted. After I deleted that file I was able to sign into my profile just fine.
So until whatever is going on is fixed, you may either not want to download anything, or at least turn off automatic gamertag sign in.

Just registered to say thanks to sag969. I haven't been able to sign into live for the past 3 days without it crashing (fear of the RROD kept me from messing with it much).
I'm fairly new to the 360 and wasn't sure where to find some decent troubleshooting for specifically this.
Thanks for the help!

Ok, I am downloading the Fable diary thing and a demo, but browsing the marketplace has been hell. It takes forever to load and what not. Sometimes it just gives me an error. I try again and again, finally it goes through. The downloading works once it starts, but is a bit slower than usual. Oh well. As long as my xbox does not freeze up when I restart it later.

My xbox works fine until I try to connect to xbox live. As soon as my gamertag shows up as "... has signed in to xbox live", my xbox freezes completely. This happens, and only happens, when I connect to xbox live.

Read what I posted above about deleting whatever you were downloading today.
