Just as they did with the games played section of the New Xbox Experience, Gamerscore Blog (with help from Major Nelson) just posted a new video demoing Avatars. You know, those overly cute, adorable and quite controversial Mii inspired characters. The Avatar demo (embedded after the break) confirms the button options that were leaked a while back and that the long rumored Avatar burping feature will be included. Just watch the vid ... you'll see.
We also want to point out that the NXE transition effects are super duper sexy! Watch closely at the beginning to spot the sleek menu transitions. Delicious!

Looks cool but I hope there will be some options for moving/re-arranging/resizing facial features, those sort of features led to some creative Miis and help diversify what would otherwise be fairly generic avatars.

You know, when they first showed avatars, i cringed because they looked so out of place on the Xbox 360.. However this video looked pretty solid and shedding new light on the feature. I especially like the detail of the customizations. Its really basic on the Wii's Miis and i never liked the bubble head style Nintendo went with. PS3's realistic approach to player representation and 360s cartoony Avatars look much better.
I'm still not entirely sure what the point of Avatars are but they are looking good at least.

The purpose is for use in the Primetime games(Though they'll be unavailable for EU, so it'll be useless for us). According to Microsoft, in the beginning they're only to be used in E10+ games. But later on they may be permitted to be used in M games too.

actually no, customizing characters is not new especially useless avatars like Miis, Sims, Home-ies and...this...(i don't even have a nick name for whatever this crap is).
i've been hating on them since their existence. but luckily we can choose to not use them.

Emotive avatar that won't ever be integrated in anything as vast as Home, do not want!
Fast menus, 8 person chat and full game install, do want!

still can't believe no one commented on that sweet burping feature. Hopefully they release packs or something for that. Or at least make it so you can choose what sound(s) you want the character to make with the right stick, and what motions to do with the left bumper. We all know that being able to strike poses would be funny. Who knows maybe even have game related accessories like having the avatar stand around with the lancer? There really is plenty of possiblities.
