Attention future squad commanders. The latest UbiSoft title with Tom Clancy's name stamped on its cover -- Tom Clancy's EndWar -- is nearly upon us and the folks at The U (aka UbiSoft) have seen fit to offer a training program for very special members of the platoon.
So to recap in English. An exclusive demo of Tom Clancy's EndWar will be available for those who pre-order the title at their local GameStop. Are you one of the crazy people who assumes you are able to walk into a game store and buy a game without an outlined plan? Ha! Well, for those who aren't pre-order fans UbiSoft is currently holding a contest for access into the super-exclusive VIP demo when it launches.
BTW - spoiler alert for EndWar, the war won't end. If it did what would the sequel be called? Tom Clancy's Fluffy Pony Adventures? Think about it.

If the "exclusive" demo is the only demo then they've convinced me to not bother with the game.
It has to be bad if they make you pre-order before you can even try it.

I was a first round tester, and to be honest, I was not impressed. It's basically a voice driven RTS style version of Civ3. I probably won't be picking this up, as I'm not a fan of RTS games on a console. although the recent Civ revolution pulled it off quite nicely.

Whatever happened to the free gamerpics that beta testers were going to get anyway?

Man...I seriously thought demo was short for DEMONSTRATION not, shorter-version-you-get-to-play-before-game-goes-gold-because-you're-already-going-to-buy-it.
I do not agree with this marketing tactic.

Sorry, what I basically mean is I shouldn't have to pay for the full version to play a demonstration.
I'm playing a demonstration version because I want to see how it works to see if it is worth buying. Not all of us are eligible for these US/UK/AU only competitions (NZer here)!

an actual demo will probably come out on or around launch.
you don't have to put down the whole amount, $5 is sufficient, and it's refundable or transferable to a different game.

Pre-order so I can play the demo?
How about I just don't buy the game period? Thanks for making my holiday game-buying a little bit easier and cheaper Ubi.

I was always with the understanding that you wanted to use demos to get people who are on the fence about your game to move closer to buying it. Giving a demo to people who have (essentially) already made that commitment is pretty stupid. Well, I guess that makes my holiday spending a little easier, one less game to worry about.

Marketing at Ubi screwed up by calling it a VIP Demo.
Guys, I'm a regular at the Endwar forums.
The VIP demo is really a stress test to see how the game handles with loads of gamers at one time.
There will a later demo that will better showcase the game. Look for it a little while before the actual release in Nov.

Gameinformer said its an october release. Were they wrong? Did they take all my hopes and bring them up, just to bring them crashing horribly down?

Print magazines can be a bit out of date when it comes to release dates. It's been pushed back to Nov. 4th, not THAT much of a delay.

I thought if you preorder you get to start playing the game a few weeks early... which would be smart. but they also need a demo for those that want to try it 1st.
